Crazy eh, the Mrs and I shake our heads when we look at some of the things we used to get up to in Dubai. Mental if you’re in the wrong place at the wrong time.

what I don't get about the Notre dame fire is surely there was insurance in place and why are the French government begging for donations from wealthy businessman, bizarre and embarrassing, is it not also up to the catholic church to chip in as well

As this appears to be the chief moaning thread, I want to contribute.

I've just come back from Chichester town...getting a hair cut and a last few bits for my holiday and there are Romanian beggars strategically placed up and down the High Street.

You do sort of wonder if they are genuine....well, we are human till I spotted one fecker on his iPhone X. Another old woman was texting too.

Made my blood boil!

heard the repair donations is up to 800million now, macron's a right dick, he's now saying that it will be repaired at any costs and with who's money then, how convenient and all because he wants to pander to the media.
Where was his caring attitude when the cathedral needed maintenance and repairs totalling 150 million and the French government would only chip in 40million I heard

I cant believe the Gillet Jaunes had anything to do with this. OK they have a point to prove but as they are fiercely French, there is no way they would take out something of such historic value.

Its about Old France and purely against the current establishment.

This seems to be €800m from about 5 donors, so not so much Macron getting cash from the 'people', but more France's super-rich individuals and companies hoping not to be guillotined any time soon.

maybe they think this is a good way of absolving their many sins instead of confessing:think:

More likely the French government responsible, trying to discredit them. :conspiracy::conspiracy:

Or the Gillet Jaunes did it, knowing that people would think it was the French Government that did it, trying to discredit the Gillet Jaunes .

Or some minimum-wage apprentice accidentally dropped his blowtorch onto a pile of timber that had been drying for 500 years, and seeing what happened next ran for it.

latest is they think it was an electrical short circuit, short circuit my a 4rse
Don't see why it wouldn't be electrical (not necessarily a short). Why not? That seems to be what happened to my father-in-law's house, which (a bit like ND), burned from the roof downwards.

would of thought something like that would have a modern spec distribution/consumer board with rcbo's/rcd protection, unless it was an ancient consumer board
