One of the companies I do much of my consultancy work for are putting together a team to abseil down the 540foot Broadgate Tower in the City of London next month, collectively they need to raise around £1,500.00 I have jumped at this opportunity and signed up because I love the adrenaliine rush and am always up for a laugh; I do however need to raise £350 for my part.

For those of you that have never seen me I and 48, 6'1" but go around 21 stone so it's no small commitment!!!

I'm not usually one to beg for sponsorship and I appreciate times are tough but if you can see your way to donating a london pint I'd be made up.

You can get people to either donate online using the linkhttp://www.justgiving.com/TheGreatOutdoorGymCompany or sponsor us by texting TGOI99 (£1, £2, £3, £4, £5 or) £10 to 70070.

It's a team event so everyone's money is going into one TGO team pot.

Thanks in anticipation

Newton

PLEASE DONATE! - The TGO team are abseiling 540ft from Broadgate Tower and we need your help to raise money for The Stroke Association. Click the link now to donate large or small http://www.justgiving.com/TheGreatOutdoorGymCompany

Bumping this one as the abseil is this Saturday at 10.00

Funds raised are going to the Stroke Association, the team are on target for £1,500 at the moment with the paper sponsorship added so it would be great to do a little more...

Nerves are starting to get a little jiggy already thinking about it!

Cheers guys; just hoping the weather improves now!

We have exceeded our innitial team target of £1,500 just online, most of us also have paper sponsorship, I have over £200 to add this way so far, onwards and upwards!

onwards and upwards!

Newton, if you do that you're doing it wrong! :D

Still think you're a nutter, but a nutter of the first order. All the best and hoping the weather is fine, the rope is checked and the guy tying the knot at the top was a boy scout.

Cheers Miles,

Many years ago a slim version of me was a tree surgeon and I miss the metalic taste of adrenaline; guess that is why I love fast cars and bikes... This should provide a real shot, stepping over the edge at 540 feet!

Top work Newton - a small donation provided.

Admire the size of your plums - that is some height. I see the tower everyday!

All done and well that was just AWSOME!!!!!

So want to go again....

Weather was perfect and the views ove all of London were just phenominal, possibly 7 counties to be seen!

Thanks to everyone who has sponsored me for this; I was supprised just how calm I was going over the edge, just felt comfortable and relaxed, the omly problem I had was that when you let go you are supposed to stop automatically but clearly I was somewhat heavyer than the device was set at so it kept slipping anyway! Half way down the gloves are starting to get so hot I was actually starting to get burns on my hands so we changed things about a bit and deployed the buddies mechanical brake to slow us down! all over way too quickly...

We are already planning something for next year; was hoping it would be the Maldon Mud Run but that is the same day as my eldest's wedding! (May bank holiday) so we are going to go for that in 2014!

Thanks for everyones support and donations, latest is we cleared £3,000 :) :) :)
