After the battery reset, would next steps be bridging the starter relay as described a few posts down on the first page? Or keep it more simple? Start with basic fault codes, PIS, clutch wear etc? Wasn't there something about faulty abs wheel sensors also potentially creating this problem and disconnecting them one at a time starting with the rears or am I mixing my wires up? Sorry just trying to be helpful, but not having had the problem I'm clutching at straws for you

See how you go with the battery reset, after then go ahead and share fault codes, PIS, clutch wear.

I think the car is in gear regardless of what the gear indicator on the dash says hence permission to start denied.

Handbrake off, try and roll it to prove neutral

Are you hearing the pump at the back prime?

Got to be careful with bypassing the start relay, as Matt says, need to be sure it’s not in gear.

ABS sensors give odd shifts - or missing gears, not failure to start.

Further to above you could also try disconnecting each wheel speed sensor multi plug one by one, start with the rear right

Your not kidding, it felt that this was going to be a long and expensive process and I am still not clear why it happened and what resolved it.

Pis should be 4.19, reset that as it’s way too high. Had a 4200 GS did the same at the weekend. Started, reversed out, switched off. Farted about for 10 mins, went for restart, nada! Would not start. Battery off 15 mins, started straight up.

Battery is low.

Happy to take a recommendation on the PIS value though I am slightly worried that the car is running and changing something, is the PIS generally considered a safe value to change?

Hmmm… I’m using a Launch x431 fully updated and the PIS value that I can input is from 297 to 360, any suggestions?

So I did a bit more reading and apparently the Maserati section of Launch could be better, another user said about going into the Ferrari 599 gearbox 301 option, here the PIS setting is what I expected to see, set it to 4.19 as suggested and great result!! Car moves off smoothly and bites just after the revs raise, the previous setting meant you needed alot of revs to move off, thanks for all the help and support. If anyone else needs access to a Launch X431 I'm in Oxfordshire.
