How fast can these depreciate?

Quite happy with all that you say. I like and wave at Ghiblis' and will be pleased when Maserati has a balanced portfolio. The trouble is they go about it in such an embarrassing way. Having no coupe of convertible on the market and being likely to remain in that position for several years is just silly. Up market brands all require aspiration and top end models give that. F type sucks XE buyers in I am sure.

Agree with this.
Now a convertible 4.7 Ghibli... would have me converted.

By necessity it would be a 3.8. The 4.7 isn't Euro-6. I'd go for just in the saloon though. If effort is to be spent I would rather it was on a new sports car that taking the roof off the Ghibli.

I didn't realise production of the GT has been stopped. I am sure I read that they were going to facelift it presumably with the latest tech from the saloon/SUV.

Lots of the US forum think that it's going to get a facelift. It'll need new engines.

The market is flooded with these boring diesel Ghibli's with loads of plasticy Chrysler Jeep Switch gear. Yuck.

I drove one at a company car event and nearly fell asleep, maybe not the point, but it was disappointing.

Was listening to Planet Rock on the way home and the Ghibli was advertised on there as your perfect every day car.......Very unlike Maserati.....Are they not selling?

Mine's my perfect everyday car ;)

If they want to sell any volumes they need to get the idea that you can drive one everyday into people's heads.

My understanding was GT to be built until end of 2016.

It might be or it might have stopped already - we need someone to go and have a look!

I have certainly been told that you cannot order a fresh spec in that the system is already locked and on run out.

The more important question is what will the line be doing next year?

I heard this twice this morning on the way to drop the car off. Not convinced by the advert, they seem to be playing on the fact that its under £50k on the road. It might be better to have a set of three adverts cycling around, one for each model. The same style of advert could be used, just with slightly different wording.

It was good to be targeted by some advertising though, even if it was for the wrong model :)

I very much doubt many of these have been sold to the public(ie somebody buying one out of their salary)the ones at 3 years old will be coming off the company car fleet and appearing at the auctions which will see them being sold at prestige car dealers rather than Maserati dealers

Once private buyers see the service costs compared to Jaguar and Mercedes I expect they'll fall even further

Look at what you can but an 09 plate XF for now

Just had a quote for my first service, I know I know I shouldn't be having the service after only 6 months of buying the car, and it wasn't too bad. I had more expensive MD services on the Giulietta.

£36k for a nearly new autobahn stormer isn't bad, the majority of the depreciation over time has been taken out, so a good second hand car in my opinion. And if you consider the CO2 and real world fuel economy to my old Seat Ibiza 1.9TDI it's about the same.

So you're getting a lot of motor for your car and as long as environmental governments don't start retrospectively taxing diesels for soot pollution then they're a good buy for the private owner looking at a long term car.

Just need to find a decent spec/colour...18" seem the norm though

I agree. I'd have another petrol Ghibli as my daily if I could convince SWMBO that it's a good idea. My issues with Maserati UK have left her with a sour taste regarding the brand. As well they should, to be honest.

A lot of sensible stuff being said here, although it's not new. All of us here, from all different walks of life, experiences, backgrounds etc can see the benefit of the halo car and why it's required. They need to hire a new marketing company and get some serious investment in customer relations/service and they need to do that pronto.

No, but I didn't expect it to be. I've got history with Italian dealers and their servicing costs so know that they aren't going to be cheap. I can remember paying less for an RX-8 main service than for an Alfa 156 interim. This was in the ball park of the interim servicing on the Giulietta I had done before I sold it. A little more but within £50. To me that's acceptable.

The XF doesn't turn heads on the road anymore though. There are too many of them. Perhaps its that that keeps the servicing costs down ;)
