Help! Wipers went bang

Be careful to note the number of washers under each bolt holding the assembly in place so you can put it back the same.

Ahh. Thanks Phil.
Thanks too to everyone who has helped with this stage of the issue resolution; the "post champagne stage" of figuring out how to get to the broken part and fix it.
I'm beginning to get a sense of satisfaction from doing all this, but, as a novice, can't do it at all without your help.
It sounds like my job for tomorrow is to remove the entire wiper linkage mechanism. Will that give me an issue with the wiper motor? I have no idea how it connects to the mechanism and would not like to find it comes out with the linkage, dragging its fragile connectors and cable with it.

Notwithstanding the screenwash connectors, from the parts diagram, looks like a detachable power connector…

Thanks Mowlas. I couldn't find this diagram when I searched. Looks to me like (2) is the fixing bolt into the bulkhead. I have seen that there is a similar one at the other end of the mechanism and perhaps (33) Zep's third fixing point. Pleased (quite excited) to see the motor is firmly attached to the mechanism (rather than to the bulkhead) and that the diagram implies a reasonable length of flex before the connector.
Tomorrow could be an exciting day :)

Save yourself the pain, buy this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/18340669...nT5zlQMQoy&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

Or

Ah. Might I find, once I get the mechanism out, that it is virtually unmendable?

I have already discovered today that the o/s/r window regulator (the next job) is all but unavailable to buy. The front was bad enough, but the availability of the rear seems akin to hens' teeth. Perhaps they are low volume parts, with few or no four door Ferraris of the period - it seems the front part also fits Ferrari models. So I've ordered a German fix kit of drive capstan, bowden cables and shock absorber springs.....
But that's another story. Lets get the wipers fixed first :)

There are three, one at either end next to the wiper spindles and one adjacent to the motor toward the front of the car. The wire is easy to disconnect, follow the wire through the under scuttle panel and it will be clipped near the brake master cylinder. Unplug, feed it through the gap next to the master cylinder and you can lift the lot away.

The likelihood of you being able to fix it is quite low, so take it out and fit a non-knackered one.

Here’s the whole picture and where I got it from… with parts numbers etc.

I am not sure about your model and year or whether they changed at any stage (though I doubt it)…

Is it this part that you're looking for?

Says part coming soon but part has gone up from £272 when mine was fixed in Feb

Ah, thank you Zep. I had hoped that maybe I could source and fit a new, unworn, ball joint. Thank you for the warning that it is unlikely to be so easy. I'll take a look at the damaged part, but have already adjusted my expectations downward.
Your clarity on removing the whole assembly and dealing with the motor cable is much appreciated. I feel considerably more confident (that I am the the right track, proven to lead somewhere useful) now.
Thanks for the links. They were used parts, but not taken off M139 QPs. Please forgive me for asking the silly question "are you sure they will fit my 2008 QPV?"
I will certainly hold onto the (perfectly good) motor for whoever might need it next. I still have a window motor that I would have returned to Matt by now had I not been fixing the car again.....

They look identical to me, but to be safe, go for https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/15426898...nT5zlQMQoy&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

All of the QPV ones seem to have the motor removed, so check yours is working before unplugging it.

Thank you for posting that @Ebenezer . As it happens, I had seen the part with that partnumber, but thought that "part coming soon" probably meant "part not in stock" I've seen other sellers, with it actually in stock, charging £450. :(

I'm needing to take encouragement where I find it !
Mostly from you guys, but it was nice when this fixing came out so sweetly.
Ah that’s because we had the pain of removing it when you were in last year. I take it it was laced with grease?
