Hi all,

Thought I best post a message in the 'Newbies' section seen as I've just registered.

Although I'm new to the forum, I've been a follower of the marque for several years now - ever since I saw the leaked sketches of the GranTurismo back in 2005/6. As soon as I saw those seductive lines I wanted to find out more about Maserati and the GranTurismo. Scouring the internet and looking in car mag's for any info on my dream car. I was even lucky enough to see a pre-production (LHD) version at Graypaul Nottingham back in 2007. I was there for ages and took loads of photos, trying to capture it from every angle. From then on I was determined to buy one...

Roll on 3 years to 2010 and I fulfilled that ambition, and bought a pre-owned, 2008 reg. 4.2 litre (base) GT. It was in the classic combo of Nero Carbonio and Avorio leather interior. The 20" Birdcage alloys and red brake calipers, helped complete the look.
However, after swearing blind I wouldn't get rid of the Maser, just a few years later sadly I sold it  ...
BUT fear not fellow Maser lovers, as I stayed with our beloved Trident marque, and am now an owner of a stunning GranCabrio MC :happy2:
The base GT gave me a real special feeling every time I looked at it or sat in it, but the MC is something else. I feel so privileged to be able to have one of the very few GranCabrio MCs in the UK (less than 20 atm!).
And what a time for all of us Maser owners - 2014 - Maserati's Centenary year :birthday: So it should be a great year for us all.

I am a member of the SCD club, so I may have met some of you already. But it is always good to meet new people, especially as you all obviously have such a great taste in cars ;)

Thanks for managing to get to the end of all my rambles. Hopefully get to meet you all soon.

Cheers,
T

Funny you should mention that Adam.... as it was Stephen (Hexadex) that pointed me in this club's direction wrt the Centenary Parade. Would love to go, if you guys don't mind(?) I was probably going to go with the SCD guys. But would love to be a part of the Centenary celebrations. Maybe I could display the car in the SCD section in the morning, and then in the Sports Maserati section in the afternoon (after the Parade lap), thereby keeping both camps happy(?) What do you think?

Welcome Tilum, glad you decided to follow my link from the SCD (Maserman)
Credit to you above Stephen :goodjob: P.S. BennyD also had a hand in persuading me to join, so you can blame him as well LOL.

Welcome and congratulations on your return to the marque. Please post some pics of your car.
Thanks Maf. Don't worry, I never left the marque - just upgraded from the base 4.2l GT to the GC MC.

Thanks Andy. Yep, I do feel rather honoured to be one of the lucky few to own an MGC MC - such an ultra rare beast.

Thanks for all your welcoming message guys. :thanks2: I promise I'll post some pics soon.

Cheers,
T

There have been a couple for sale over the last few months...What car did you go for.....Most seem to be black or white...The black looks very mean but then the white is stunning also.......

Yep, all of a sudden a few have popped up for sale... However things are not always as they seem!...

For example, there was a Bianco Eldorado one up for sale by a Private Seller only a couple of weeks ago, but this was bought by Amari, rephotographed, and put up for sale for £16k more!!!
There was also a Nero Carbonio one up for sale by a different Private Seller, but that was my previous MC! (Which I had a bit of a mishap in last year :frusty5: ) I was after a black MC, and as it just so happened my local Maserati dealer were taking delivery of one the following week (which they had spec'd). They emailed me the spec before it arrived, and as it was almost my ideal spec they reserved it for me. It looked stunning. And loved having it (for the brief time that I did)...

But 2nd time round, as there were no other MGC MCs around that fitted my brief, and as it had turned to autumn/winter, I decided I would spec a new one for the Spring. It's quite similar to my previous one, but this time I tweaked the spec, ticking a few more Options boxes along the way LOL. Although they are little tweaks, they really make a big difference. The dealer said that (due to my real attention to detail when spec'ing the car) that I should spec all their cars for them LOL. It arrived at the dealership Tuesday morning last week (hence not having any decent pics of it yet).

So to answer your Q in such a brief manor:whistle:, it's Nero Carbonio LOL. I do like the look of the Bianco MCs, but I just don't think a white car suits me (make of that what you will LOL).

Black for me looks best on the GC MC...so great choice...The black private sale one....was that the one with black leather red stitching and some close up pictures in the advert..That car really made me sit up and take notice..It looked stunning.

Sounds like that's the same one. I take it the "clack leather" was a typo?!? Or did you think that the red stitching clashed with the black leather?!? LOL. TBH, the red stitching isn't as bold/brash as it might appear in some photos, as it has a slight silky finish to it. The car had black leather and black alcantara (which helped give a nice contrast to the cabin compared with an all black leather interior). It had red stitching in both the leather and the alcantara (most dealerships don't realise you can spec contrasting stitching for both sections!) It had the Matt Graphite (off-black) MC wheels, with gloss red calipers (which are standard on the MC). I've gone for the same wheels again, but have spec'd the Matt Anodised red calipers, which give the car a more stealth-like look and also suit the matt finish of the wheels. It had the Aerodynamic (Carbon-fibre) Package and carbon fibre & leather steering wheel, which I've gone for again. But this time I've added the Evolution carbon packages (both 1 & 2) as well. There are a few more tweaks, but you'll know doubt see them soon (either in pics or at a Maserati meet).
Yep, it does kinda make you stand up and take notice, as it has a real presence about it LOL. Thanks for the positive comments :thanks2:

:thanks2:guys.
You'll probably get sick of me after a while though LOL.

Smasher, as for not knowing what a GranCabrio MC is, half the Maserati dealers don't know what they are either! They often confuse the MC variants with cars that have 'MC Sport Line' options, 'MC Shift' (automated manual) transmission (typically found on the GTS), or the MC Auto Shift transmission (available on the GT Sport and GC Sport). It's why I explain that the GranCabrio MC is the convertible version of the MC Stradale. (Makes life so much easier LOL.)
