Welcome aboard Tilum, good to see you yesterday at the SCD event.
Hi John, Thanks for the post and thanks for welcoming me aboard. Yep, it was good to see you too. I met quite a lot of new faces yesterday :D

I have to admit that I was guilty of admiring glances at your Maser on the way back home - both when you were in front and also when you were behind. The gorgeous blue front end looked stunning in my rear view mirror. Shame we didn't use your Maser in the shoot; we'll have to get some pics of it in another SCD article some time.

Are you going on the Centenary Parade Lap at the Silverstone Classic (can't see you on the list - ref. #104)? Would be great if you could come along. N.B. 'Early Bird' Car Club Display package prices / tickets ends tonight!

Cheers,
T

Maserati GranCabrio MC - 'Living with an MC' part 1 (SCD magazine, Issue 11, p69)

The first of several 'Living with' style articles that I'm doing for the SCD member's magazine (from Issue 11, Spring 2014 Edition):-

Thanks Andy. Yeah, I'm rather pleased with how the article came out. My initial attempt was over a 1000 words(!), so we had to cut it down LOL. I'll include the bits about how it drives etc. in the follow-up articles.
Regarding the Bruntingthorpe event, I'll have to see what else is happening. Plus I'm not too sure about tracking the MC there as the track (sadly) isn't in the best of conditions. :(

Nicely written piece Tilum, not biased at all..!!
LOL. Well I tried to be quite neutral by just including facts and only stating my opinions as opinions.

1st para: Explaining what MC means/is.

2nd para: Further explanation to the MC models, as soooo many people (inc. some main dealers!) mistake cars with MC Shift transmissions and/or MC Sport Line accessories as being the MC variant. :banghead2:
I've also said that the base, S, and Sport GT/GC models also have the gorgeous, seductive Pininfarina styling:shy1:, but that the MC has a racier, more aggressive look (the latter might be my opinion, but I think 90+% of people would agree that it does look racier and more aggressive, regardless of whether or not they prefer it).

3rd para: Regarding "If you thought that the standard GranTurismo was a pretty car, but perhaps not ‘manly' enough in appearance, and the S/Sport models still don't cut it, then the MC variants should be enough to persuade you.", all "If"s, "but"s, "perhaps", and "should"s.

4th para: "Anyone that has seen a Maserati GranTurismo or GranCabrio, the first thing that typically strikes you is the looks. Or if you hear it before you see it, the glorifying sound of the Ferrari derived V8 engine." Again, I think 90+% of people would agree with this.
"However unlike some other supercars, which might appeal to boy-racers, play boys, or have the stigma of 'mid-life crisis' attached, the GranTurismo and GranCabrio seem to have an almost universal appeal." I tried to include what my personal experiences are to people's reaction to the MC, but without saying they are facts or that everyone else will have the same feedback (hence using "might", "seem to", and "almost").

6th para: "Despite the more aggressive appearance, rather than alienating onlookers, the GranCabrio MC (of which there are currently less than 15 cars in the UK) has even greater jaw-dropping looks and is even rarer, making owning one even more of a privilege." I meant "greater" as in larger (rather then better, although IMHO, the MC does have more of a 'wow' (or 'in your face'!) factor than the base, S, and Sport models).

I know you were just ribbing me LOL, but hopefully I've helped to explain that I tried to remain unbiased, and only state facts as fact, and opinions as opinions. And hopefully I've also shown that I also have a strong admiration for the other GT & GC variants :)

Cheers,
T

Depends on who your partner is I guess LOL. But yes, if you're married or have a 'significant other', I obviously recognise it's important to compromise, etc.

However, if a girl doesn't accept my black car(s), then they don't accept me for who I am, in which case they're probably too close-minded (or ignorant) to understand me anyway. And if the situation were the other way around, I would not try and dictate what colour car (or even which car) she should have. At the end of the day, it is her choice, if she chooses to have a white, yellow, or even pink(!) car, that is up to her. (Even if I do think she is nutz for doing so! LOL.)

I won't buy red vehicles. *shrug*
Huh?!? How come Catman? You've got me intrigued now! LOL. BTW, my first ever car was a pre-owned (dark) red MG-F... ah, those were the days... ok, maybe nostalgia is playing a part LOL.

Feng shui's not crazy believe me...blacks only ok if your single!

Dave

No no no! Lol. Thats sort of stuff might just be internet feng shui. There are some general rules but largely it all depends on the person. My father in law is a 10th dan feng shui grandmaster (or whatever the d*mn the equivalent is lol). I have just given up and go with the flow.....

No idea, genuinely. I just do not feel comfortable even *thinking* about buying a red car (or bike when I was a biker). Life's too short to fret about it, so I'll stick with black, blue and silver :)
