Hi there, I wanted to say a quick hello to everyone here. I'm in the south east/Essex area .
I have been looking through the forum over the last week or so and it is a wealth of knowledge for a newbie like me with my first ever Maserati 4200 cambi.
Totally fallen in love with the car over the month iv had it, even the bad running when cold and the ......well, unique clutch noises that eminate upon pullaway ........
But for now i'm going to try to enjoy it as much as possible during what decent weather we have left this year before the white stuff comes.
I do think the clutch needs attention but that's a different post to search for....................

Fossy, welcome to the best Maserati forum. Sorting out problems is one of the joys of running a Maserati but you will get a good idea of how to go about it from the guys on here. Will look forward to seeing you at a meet, sometime soon.

Spigot bearing Fossy....how many miles on this clutch?

P

Hi Parisien, I don't actually know, assuming the car is on its original clutch with 40,000 miles, I'd assume it needs a new one, but if it has been changed.................... Its a metallic judder which dissapears upon increase in speed upon pullaway , but not bad once warmed up ?
I shall post this up now in the right section, thanks for your help.

Welcome, Fossy. This is the only place for admirers of Maseratii to hang out, and it's great to see someone else from Essex on here. If you haven't yet discovered Grimaldi Engineering over in Halstead then make a mental note; though I've yet to use them personally all reports are very good.

Hi Fossy, yes its your spigot bearing, it wont cause a failure and is a Maserati recall item, but alas your car is probably too old to qualify, but it is worth a go!

If they do agree to replace it, make sure you supply new clutch parts at the same time, it will save you £700 in labour.

Hi Fossy and welcome to the forum. Seen your other thread regarding the clutch so won't add anything here other than to say I hope you get it sorted.

Regards, Miles.

Hi Fossy, from the bottom left corner of Essex!

Embrace your pet owl, come free with the 4200 but shouldn't worry you, mine is worse in damp and cold conditions but it doesn't seem to have any ill effect just hoots to let you know it's working!

I think MK may be loosing its crown as Trident capital, there's a good few in Essex now!

And Welcome Fossy, falling in love with your Maserati is a common fault, symptoms are an inane grin and an empty wallet,

Hmm is that good or bad???? As long as they don't become 'wrapped in white' or have huge spoilers applied that'll be fine by me.

It's the way we roll in Essex. Personally i have fitted blue lighting underneath, some fluffy dice and a sunstrip with the wife's and my names on it. It's off for a spray tan and grill-whitening tomorrow (the car, not the wife).

The exhausts are only as clean as necessary, Frank. The's only so much crawling round underneath a man can do to get the dirt out of every little nook and cranny (not rhyming slang).
