GT Front Number Plate

I've had my GT just over two months and have managed to bash the front number plate off twice.

I know some on here don't have one however, I was pulled by the plod coming back from Le Mans and told to replace it and I also don't like the holes left from said plate.

I've put the plate on without the plate holder thing. But I think it looks sh!t with the big silver screws showing (can't use standard screws as the holes are bigger due to the plate being ripped off).

Has anyone come up with a better way of displaying their front plate which will mean it doesn't get ripped off on the slightest bump?
I have also been advised that a small plate isn't advisable as that means you've deliberately put the wrong sized plate on and that's £150 fine.

Pics would be appreciated.

Mine hasn't been ripped off in 18 months. In fact it's a good early warning to make sure that I don't hit the kerb :)

Is yours lower?

Mines on with self-adhesive tape... hasn't come off in 10 months

Is the tape just on the top of the plate Jon?

No Mark, if the picture below is the back of my plate, the double-sided tape is set out like the shaded rectangles (sorry it's so low tech a description!)

Ahh so it's stuck to the bottom bit of the grill and the top of the bit below.

If that makes sense.

Might give that a go tomorrow. I've ordered two more front number plates.
They should turn up in the morning.

Cheers

You got me curious so just went to look at the front of mine.

I have a small black flat plate that is screwed into the front of the car, and my number plate is stuck to that. Pics below

David (Corvette) was showing me these motorised draw hide/show plate holder. Works on remote and stores under the bumper. Blipper on your key to action it. £100 plus fitting.

David is coming to The Orchard next Thurs so you can see it in action.

That's exactly what I've been bashing off all of the time.

Maybe I need to be more careful.

I've caught mine loads coming off the drive, but luckily never ripped it off. I now know if I catch it that I'm likely to also catch the front spoiler on the drive, so I can change the angle. It's a handy warning..

Tried it, they don't fit on the Strad because the lower spoiler is curved and they need a flat surface. The GTS might have less curve but I suspect it will be the same issue. I also thought about a sticker style plate but there's really nowhere to put one. Hence I don't bother ! Mine hit the ground once and caused the lower screw to punch a hole in the plastic front lip. The Strad plate holder is different from the GTS and very much an afterthought. I had the screw hole repaired and decided not to put another screw hole in it ! You can have small holes smart repaired quite well.

There are screw holes? I found that the front plate on the Ghibli was coming off and when I looked at it it's just stuck in with double sided tape. The surface is curved and the plate is bent around it and held in place by tape. Is that not something that could be done on the GT?

My Ghibli had a horrible plastic front holder that I took off and attached the plate directly to the bumper, similar to Jon's blue GT in a previous post.
