GS under fuel flap colour

Gents,

just a quick question with regards to under the 4200/GS fuel flap. Is it usual for the bodywork under here to be a black primer colour surrounding the fuel nozzle or should this be the same colour as the body paintwork? Mine looks abit of a mess, in that's its a black/grey primer colour. So i'm tempted to get it sprayed to match the main body colour. I know people dont see here but it looks a bit of a mess.

Thanks Peter. I may wait until the summer and get it sprayed to match the outside body colour.

Its annoying to me especially the amount of time i spend at the fuel stations, as well as me being quite OCD. Every time i open the fuel cap, its this grey/black etched primer colour which looks awful as though the car hasn't been sprayed properly. Some will say that getting that done is going over the top for an area thats never seen apart from when refueling. I would feel much better if its body colour. I wasn't sure if the car had previously had any rear panel paintwork done, hence the reason for asking if the grey/black primer was factory. Price wise i've been told about £25 to get it done but thats a job for the summer though.

Matt...I looked into that myself as I had the same thought when I saw my 2nd 4200 FL was black...but Emblem confirmed it was correct....I note that the 3200s engine compartment is the same.

Engine compartment is a Satin/Matt black on a 3200, looks ok on mine, as it's a black car. You could always hide it with big chunks of plastic ;)

Removed the plastic covers on mine just don't like them.
Makes checking everything okay so much easier :)

The big cover on the QP and GT makes it look better the engine bay that is as there is too much open space up front with the longer nose.
Everyone to their own.

Feels like stuff has been lobbed in with no regard for aesthetics because they know it's going to get covered as well.
