just picking this up as some mit find this info useful (or not)
ECU diags
http://www.digimoto.com/Shop/default.aspx
was looking to get this added to my chrimble list but weekend I took the car out which mile up the road it started to misfirer then lose power and then I think the car want to tell me there was a problem - the engine light came on, so took it easy home - switch off (hoping this may reset) at which point it wouldn't even start. called out engineer and we both took longer to find the OBD port than it was to reset the error codes. I restarted the car and no issues or warnings, stopped it and restarted again and still no issues - took the car out for about 40 mins or so and everythings fine. very strange
so now will be looking to get this, so I can check and clear the code myself. I was about to get the digimoto but did some further research and come across various apps for you fans of Apple (iPhone or iPad) also some apps for Andriods all look good and provide some interesting features. I've got a blackberry
just some of the apps I found
Rev - http://www.devtoaster.com/products/rev/
DashCommand - http://www.palmerperformance.com/products/dashcommand/iphone/index.php

I think these are for Andriod only:
Torque - http://torque-bhp.com/
ScanGenPro - http://m.androidzoom.com/android_applications/tools/alobd-scangenpro_jiav.html
OBDriod - http://m.androidzoom.com/android_applications/tools/obdroidpro_fned.html
OBDScanTool - http://m.androidzoom.com/android_applications/tools/voyagerdash_kstl.html
Hardware required is either bluetooth or wifo device plugged into the ODB port
