I'm sure this question has been done to death, but I thought I would just ask. I've recently fitted an X-pipe and it does sound great, however I'm looking to open it up a bit more but I'm not looking for it to be ridiculously loud in sport mode. Also wanting to stay clear of any CEL warning lights and be able to get the car through MOT ok etc...

option 1: secondary 200 cell sports cats
option 2: back boxes gutted
option 3: secondary cat delete
option 4: combo of 1 & 2

All advice welcomed....

On my 4200 I had 200 cell sports cats, a H pipe and Quicksilver back boxes.

Sounded great (in my head at least) but failed it's mot on being too loud. In hindsight it probably was.
Valved back boxes would have made it more manageable.

Didn’t I see that they are getting ready for automatic fines for cars louder than 70dba in some London boroughs. All by camera and mic. So expect it all over the Uk soon…

Do you know if they are modified as it’s a GS I’ve got which has standard GS boxes on it?

Your car already has modified rear GS boxes on it so you don’t need to do anything at the back. It’s Larini sportscats and the thing will sound epic.

I know this as I fitted them :p

haha! that makes sense as it does sound quite loud with just an x-pipe fitted, well that saves me some money then! Sportscats it is

If you've already got GS boxes, get them sent to Jason at Jaren metalworks. He will polish then and mint them up to like new, open them up & remove the wadding inside. It's like a half way point to straight through and to me it sounds absolutely fantastic, in combination with my X pipe. If you search my content I did post a pic of my boxes on here too, they look ace. Price was only 3 or 4 hundred quid. Jason is a gent as well. Get him on 07555 675503

PS link to my thread with pic:
