could be my time for a clutch as its sound like its starting to strugles to get into gear - is there a difference between the Gransport and the MC-V clutch, if so would this be better to fit instead of the standard Gransport clutch

I also have my service coming up so could be a good time to do this (££££)

Miles/Emtee is the person you need to seek confirmation but I am 99% sure its the same clutch. Just make sure you get the later dual tang clutch cover but I think you would struggle to fine the old single tang TBH as its been obsolete for years.

Hi Enzo, Unfortunately I can't answer with absolute certainty.

The fact that there might be a difference was first mooted by Dickie if memory serves me correctly and I assume this was after conversation with Marios at Autoshield (apologies Marios if I'm wrong in that assumption).

This certainly took me by surprise, as I can see no reason why?

I've since had the clutch (original) out of my MCV and there was absolutely no difference that I could discern, but as I had it out to change the sensor, and there was no need to replace the clutch, it went straight back in and I haven't given it much thought since.

As far as I'm currently aware the clutch is the same as the GS, but you could give Marios a call to get his thoughts?.....

Sorry I can't be more help.

Regards, Miles.

Miles u r correct, DG did make that comment after a car he was selling #129 if i recall correctly had a clutch changed by Marios

Been trying to get more info but nothing as yet
(Not sure if the F360 CS unit fits our car)

Alternative i have found is a Kevlar clutch for Masa from the states (not the Pega) that is being used with great sucess on Lambos. Key indi over there has given them a big tick

Info avail if interested

Don't worry about the dual tang thing. You can't get a single tang for either the GS or the MCV.

Hi Adam,

Hope you're well?

Yes, toyed with the idea of the Kevlar approach and know of people here that can do it, but the price doesn't stack up. 2.5 x as much for only a marginal improvement in longevity and no difference in performance?

Happy to be proved wrong however.......

Cheers, Miles.

Have a look at eurospares. When selecting model, there is no difference between 4200, GS and MCV clutch.

Hi miles all good txs

Here is a reply re Kevlar - a lot more commentary on Lambo forum spcific to that brand. Have a lot of life still on my clutch so wont be for a while until i can confirm
.............

Our Maserati Kevlar clutch lasts up to 300% longer than a stock clutch. It can also handle more horsepower. It can handle 800-1000hp. Our customers tell us that it shifts better than their old stock.

It also shifts 25-50% faster since it grabs better.

We have a lot of customers in Australia but unfortunately we don't have a distributor in Australia. Our Kevlar clutch installation is the same as an OEM clutch. It's plug and play. There is no need for any modification. Any Maserati dealer or independent can install our clutch. As you've read, some of our customers who are mechanical handy have been able to install our clutch in their own car.

Hi Nikos, Eurospares doesn't differentiate the MCV from the GS / 4200, which is partly where the element of doubt has come from.

I largely suspect you're right however.

Hi Miles, apart from eurospares, i strongly believe that Maserati would never produce a different mechanical part for a limited edition car.

I agree Nikos, it's Dickie's comment that's thrown some doubt into the situation, as it seemed to come from Marios, and he certainly knows his stuff.

The MCV does run different mechanicals. It has a quicker rack and some of the electronics are different, so it maybe the clutch is different because of different gearbox mapping, but I've still to get to the bottom of it.

Miles,

Just on the gearbox software, we have done a preliminary chk on mine vs a std GS- release serial numbers for h/ware and software are the same.

Nxt step is a full map dowload and overlay against Std to see if there are differences

Yes the software version on mine is also the same compared to the GS, but the literature does mention quicker shifting? Might prove to be PR embellishment?...

Anyhoo, once I've got the Exxy up and running I'll be having a full custom re-map. Haven't got enough time to devote to it until then.

Hi Adam, I'm just curious, but what's the name of the company selling the Kevlar clutch?
With mine at almost 43,000 miles on the original clutch, it's got to be coming soon I fear!! LOL
Thanks in advance!
