Looking at the pictures Mark, I take it you have/are replacing your exhaust manifolds for the euro spec from the US spec you had/have fitted?

I've got these MAF, full system. The noise on Sport mode is incredible. Wait for the popping in the downshift, makes the current F1 cars sound very boring indeed.

Drones quite badly on motorway with Sport on but you just switch it off and everything is well again. The nice thing is that the difference between Sport and Normal is so pronounced that you essentially have 2 characters to play with as you like (or as appropriate!).

You'll love it.

As soon as I can find some time in my diary to fit it in. Hopefully within the next 3 weeks latest.

Sounds like poor diary management, MAF. Looks terrific, though. Almost a shame to hide it all away underneath, but I look forward to hearing it and to seeing the dyno figures.

If you haven't done it yet Mark, get that rubbish standard air filter out too. I use a BMC version. Good airflow is the key!

Thanks - do you know which manifolds you have on your car? I'm swapping mine from US-spec to Euro-spec which will make quite a difference. I rarely use Sport mode on motorways as I find the ride a little too firm. My car already has valved Larini rear boxes which sound great, so this is going to be Benny-esque by the time I'm finished!

It's anooying - a combination of Bank Holidays, business trips and a conference all conspiring to keep me away from getting it done. Pipes are very shiny, I'm sure that's why they cost so much!

It's on the list if Newton hasn't managed to develop his new intake yet.

Ah yes. How can Maserati publish the same Bhp figures when obviously the Euro spec are more efficient!...unless the published figures are US spec.

Good point, Mike. I have no idea which version they're quoting, but I'm told the manifold swap alone should release a few ponies. Losing 2 x 600 cell and 2 x 400 cell 8 year old cats and replacing with brand new 200 cell sports cats will certainly add a few more horses. Larini claim +18bhp for the sports cat mods alone, but that's based on changing them from the Euro-spec 4-cat pipe I think.

Not a clue Mark. I know I have the H Pipe, sport cats and valved back boxes. Here's a pic or two from Larini. My car was owned by Loz and he did the work before I bought. It was one of the main reasons why I went for the car. I went for the modified car as I knew that i'd only spend the cash doing it anyway! I was pleased that Loz had done it for me.

^^^^^^^^ shiny!
You have the US-spec manifolds, I can make out the large primary cats in the photos. I'm swapping mine for Euro-spec manifolds which have no cats in them. These will feed into 200 cell sports cats which should add power & volume!

I hate you. How much will these cost me and where can I get them?

You'll need to get them from a breaker as a pair is £4k from Maserati/Eurospares!!! I believe there are pairs around for about £500, I managed to get mine for a lot less.
You'll then need to spend even more money with Larini as your sports cat pipes are different to the ones you need for the manifolds. Then there's the fitting cost as the manifolds are supposed to be a pain to remove (talk of subframe, engine, oil tank needing moving). Could be a very expensive exercise for you if you decide to do it.

Aaaarrrggghhhh F**k it. I'll drill a couple of holes in them, that should improve flow and increase the noise!

My GS is booked in to Autoshield for 2 weeks time for fitting. Marios said it will take more than a day as the manifolds are not easy to remove and fit - the engine will need to be lifted to gain access. I'm sure it will be worth the work though!

Rolling road booked for Saturday morning. It's a hub dyno where they attach it directly to the wheel hub of the car - eliminates wheelspin etc. I'll get a power and torque figure at the wheels, rather than a calculated/estimated flywheel reading. Car is then going to Autoshield next Monday to have the exhaust work done. News soon!
