Don't know if this helps, but I just tried two USB sticks in the glove compartment socket and both work ok.
As soon as the sticks are inserted the NIT switches to the USB and starts playing.
2GB formatted FAT and 32GB formatted FAT32.

Thank you Moz. That's also my understanding from the technical manual.

Phil indicates that the Aux input needs to be enabled, but I can't recall it making any difference and not sure if that only applies to Apple
