Well, bu&&ger me.

After all that f0cking effort, sweat, tears, and blasted blood everywhere and the tortuous s0dding hours installing the USB connector and cables, no f**cking data recognised.

Checked with a pukka SAMSUNG Standard USB Connector, power getting through, but USB Data device not recognised, neither from phone or USB stick.

Well the cable has 4 lines, 2 power, 2 presumably data, and the NIT end has two connectors, one into the NIT directly and the other into the harness.

Sprayed the connectors with switch cleaner, fuff.

This is a USA 2015 build so presumably HW8.1 and assured that USB device showed up as a folder.

Build looks like nothing in the INFO System Tech manual76888

.

Any recognise this build?

It's not an Apple connector build is it?

Otherwise, is there a trick that I'm missing or is the Eurospares cable really only a charge cable as marked and raised earlier?

Any advice.

Wiping down the blood again, together with the spit sprayed everywhere this time

I'm not at all sure at all. No date or revision history in it. It merely refers to major revisions from 2010.
Any advice where I might find an up to date revision?

Couple of other things:
Can you select USB as the input? Is your thumb formatted FAT? And I'd start with one MP3 on it in a nice low bitrate.

No idea if there's a HW version to be decoded out of that.

How big a thumb drive as well? Really really sure it's FAT and not FAT32? How many tracks on it? What's the disc called?

Oh! That specific? FAT not FAT32?
My Android phone is recognized by the FIAT so I assumed ok as was the stick. 2013 BMW also.

I'll check but the old 7.1 is back in now and ironically connects to the USB and charges it.

Well that's just applying 5v to a the lines at a guess.
I don't know if it needs to be that specific, but starting at the lowest common denominator.....

USB drives often get formatted with odd parameters now, which modern systems happily gloss over but can trip more basic kit. I even have a camera that can access a >64G (from memory) SD card, but can only format cards <64g...

Not daft at all. USB not coming up on selection either by cycling through Source button or on the configuration menu (Aux on or off)

Thank you CAT. I'll construct a simple USB Stick in FAT with one track low encoding and do another pull when it's not raining
Helpful as always.
Messaged Phil to see if he recognizes the build too

Wonder then if someone can confirm if you can select USB as the source even when no USB is plugged in?

You could buy the socket on eBay and try that.

Well,

I'm convinced that Eurospares have sent the wrong socket/cable variant.

Formatted FAT32, with a single simple MP3.

The Audio screen lists the audio functions. Jukebox, CD (Greyed out if none loaded) and USB (greyed out if none loaded).

The vendor verifies that it was used to transfer data, so I'm convinced that the NIT is USB data capable.

Message sent to Eurospares for assistance and sort it out.

Shame that simple cable routing is about a 4 hour glovebox removal/ disassembly, routing, reassembly/ installation.

Another long Italian delivery, and more gynaecolgy to come.

The positive is that I've a NIT that hopefully doesn't crash and BT.

Hard work this team, eh?

I don't have any device that has the limited capacity below FAT32ext. FAT Formatting then renders any device over the old FAT limit unreadable. I tried. Surely the system can work with post Windows 97 files.
The previous user had no issue with any format.

Let's see what Eurospares come up with
