Ghibli cup clutch

Colleagues.
My cup came to a grinding halt after Auto Italia.
The clutch has been removed and I am having conversations with my local main dealer. Whilst the gearbox is different has anyone got an answer as whether the clutch is different?
The cars narrow window of summer evenings is reducing so I'm hoping to get the car up and running before Autumn arrives!
Many thanks in advance.

Hi Malcolm, If the clutch is out, are there any identifying numbers on it? Have you taken photo's you can post?

Hi Malcolm I would say enrico's site is the place to ask most questions on Ghibli's. If you do call Bill McGraths Andy Heywood will tell you on the spot anything you need to know. His tech Paul is the best Bi turbo guy in the country.

Hey Malcolm,

how do you mean "different"?

Are you saying your Cup has a distinct gearbox and clutch from other Cups'?

JimP

incidentally- (and I'm sure this doesn't seem very important at this point); have you got any pictures of the work so far...?

Hi, the clutch of your car is the same of all the ghibli, shamal and 3200gt. It's a sachs and you can find it also in a racing version directly from sachs. The price of the clutch kit it's not so exensive as the one you buy from maserati.

Guys
Thank you for all the help and advice. I have posted twice and both times the Maserati server crashed!
It was like a zen puzzle and Sarosalemi is spot on as was the bill McGrath suggestion who have now sent the part through saving me over £300!!
I have taken pictures much to the amusement of the garage fitting it let alone their customers!
The gearbox with GT written on wasa Zen style red herring which sent me on wild goose trail.
When it's up and running will let you know whether I can drive in traffic without getting cramp in my leg.
Thanks again to everyone.

Well done Sarosalemi!

Oh, that's great news then Malcolm...

When you have a moment; would you be able to quote the associated Part No's and if it's not too rude; expand on the total cost...?

Many thanks - sure is a result
Will get all the numbers
The overall quote is £1400 which is similar to a 4200.
Will get a full breakdown and post it.
The saving is being put back into the cat in the form of a cam belt priced at £384 by JCT brooklands.
Did anyone see the red GT for sale on this site posted via E bay. Looked great I thought.
Happy weekend guys

Thanks Ioz,
I reckon it was easier to sort than a Mac. The car has some catching up to do to get to its 1,000 mile insurance limit.

Is there a 0 missing there Malcolm? I sure hope there is! BTW it doesn't look like the old clutch had much more to give. You certainly got your moneys worth out of it.

Benny,
I need to check - its either 1 or 2k on the policy at a mere £850a pprox with privilege insurance. Mind you I just about get to the 1K figure. The new clutch means I can drive it in traffic for the first time!
best wishes
