My view would be system is loosing pressure, whilst in use, could be a sensor overreading & cutting the pump out too early, or a small but signigicant leak, allowing a drop in operating pressure..

I'm out of the country and the car is with the garage until I return. They reassured me that they completed all the tests based on the errors. Should I just drive the car when i return or ask them to conduct further tests based on the above comments? If so, what should I ask them to explore?

Hmmm. Doesn't sound entirely satisfactory, but I guess if you're back on the road, that's a win.

Nightmare continues! Two weeks after getting the car back, I was out driving yesterday and the original problem reoccurred again! I managed to limp home with only 1st, 2nd and reverse available. Occasionally It would jump to neutral and i'd struggle to change back to 1st. Red gearbox light and orange engine light are on permanently now.

Very annoying especially given the garage said they experienced the problem and felt their solution resolved it. They even conducted an extensive test drive!

I will contact garage again to continue the investigation. I'll also suggest they investigate hydraulic pump as you suggested Dave. Disappointing that the customer has to purpose solutions to resolve issues!

So the SD showed up nothing? They are going down the route of how the MDs check out problems??!!

Didn't replace anything. They performed system reset of the gearbox and remapping. They were adamant this would resolve the issue.

Pretty concerning that a Main Dealer as renowned as Maranello cannot resolve this quite serious problem.

I think they are missing the basics here, check pump operating pressure & fluid levels.
If the level has dropped the CC fluid has to have gone somewhere..
The actuators need full pressure to operate & .

As Omar said, why should the cutomer need to be making sugestions to a Main Dealer?

Car still not back yet, but just heard from garage and they're 100% convinced it's the actuator. They replaced the potentiometer, but this only partially resolved the issue! They have pages of dialogue with the Maserati in Italy and they both concur with the assessment of a faulty actuator.

Any comments / suggestions please?? Is this a common issue??

There have been mis-diagnoses in the past due to poor training/understanding of what they were looking at, plus I believe the actuator can be refurbed (I think Loz in past has mentioned/knows about this), rather than X thousands to buy a new one.........plus Omar at the risk of offending anyone at an MDs, how frequently do they work on them now, how much experience have said techies got? Having to resort to Maserati Spa to diagnose is a tad worrying for something which has been known about for 12 odd years!

If I were you I'd phone our resident forum indie expert Marios at Autoshield, mention the forum
