Well, I have finally taken the plunge … and bought an Italian V8 that I’ve lusted after for years !! I have ‘silently’ been guided by all of your words of woe & wisdom and have bought (what I hope is) the best I could afford, with known heritage, complete history and low mileage !!

I was after a 55/06 plate facelift 4200 but ended up with an 07 plate Gransport LE (begrudgingly paying more tax to HMGov :-( Sold by Richard Grace cars in 2013, and then Nuvola in 2014, it has lived in walking distance from me for the last 7 years and been maintained by McGraths for all of that time. Yet I’ve never seen it on the roads here. Fingers X for years of trouble free motoring then (yeah … right). I have gone in with my eyes open; the pangs of guilt having bought the car are massively outweighed every time I press the START button :)

One question to start things off please. Within the Blue Maserati Folder is a small credit card sized Black Plastic container (thin) which rattles when shaken. It has a bar code on one side. The previous owner was unsure exactly what it is but was told NOT to leave it ever in the car !! Has anyone got an idea what it might be ?? I don’t see it mentioned in the user manual anywhere, and having activated the Tracker, they tell me it is nothing to do with that.

Anyway, thank you for listening and for your virtual guidance thus far. Hopefully it hasn’t gotten me into a world full of trouble ?? Maybe meet some of you in person over time now that I am no longer just that lurker. Cheers for now. Paul

PS. Alfa 159 Sportwagon 2.4 Ti (white) for sale. 2009. One previous family owner. 52k miles. My ownership 10 years. Full service history with Jamie Porter @ Alfa Workshop.

Well done with the GS and post some more information and photos about the SW for sale. Someone here may fancy that.

Nice choice of Maser. Congrats.
The black plastic thing is the Navtrak fob - I've had them in a few of my Masers.
Chances are that it's long since been disconnected or unsubscribed from though.

Thank you both … think you are spot on. Have managed to prise it open (to reveal the inner workings)

I guess the ‘Navtrak’ was replaced by ‘Tracker‘ at some point (which does not need a similar fob …) ??

Nice looking car and definitely the GS with low mileage is the one to have I suspect.

And the price?

£6500 …

A quick scan of any Ti models with 210 BHP reveals only one car with 165k miles which doesn’t help me. No Ti’s below 100k miles less than £6k ?? So, with BIG service & cam belt done, the car is ready to go.

Your phone will be red hot for that at 6.5k. It looks great, low miles too, a rare car.
I wouldn’t be surprised if someone off here has snapped your hand off already to use as a daily!
