It's great that the mods want to make the forum successful but...

For years I felt it was under regulated but now you seem to be going from 0-60 in two seconds and swinging the other way. Personally, I avoid what I don't want to read but I do respect others' opinion to talk about things I might not be interested in and hold views that I might not agree with. Parking those posts in the bottom right hand corner was enough for me and I will dip in if I want.

Frankly, the world of Maserati is not enough to maintain a forum in itself for itself so such posts always pop up and mature people can react as they see fit but please don't close down other topics - some of the responders are just as bad in their indignation as the people they think are offending them.

If the forum remains as nothing else but the narrow Maserati focus then it will fade away over time as social media groups get more traction and those who go on the trips to Le Mans etc gravitate more to the Whats App Groups you must already have. That would be a shame as you guys and forum members have put a huge amount on effort into life here over the last 10+ years. Lets keep it going, not restrict it to the colour palette of wheel calipers (important as that is!).

When I posted the above I was 50/50 as to whether swinging or calipers was the key word and now I know. As long as the mods read it....

I clearly have missed something significant on the forum as all of a sudden threads being banned, unrest in the camp and Pete this morning said on the good morning thread he was leaving the forum which is a massive shame as Pete has been here since the start. I still have no idea what has been going on.

I suppose it boils down to the fact that it is a certain kind of car lover/petrol head who adores brand Maserati. For all its faults in the past with the odd dog of a car to the sublime QPV and GT born out of the 4200 and GS so it therefore follows, I think, we all have a certain shared appreciation of other topics such as the 'Terrible Jokes Thread' as just one example of many.
Whenever we meet up no matter how many turn up it seems we all get on very well irrespective of everything else due to our mutual love of the brand that is Maserati.
I support the tidying up of threads but hopefully not at the cost of eccentric off the wall comment or diversity. (by that I don't mean gender neutral bogs)

I think we can all agree that the forum must never be sanitised (or sane), but there are some topics which are very personal and very likely to drag up raw emotions and powerful opinions. As you say, Newton, when we all meet we tend to talk the usual bollox and nonsense, but no-one ever says, 'so, whaddya think about Nigel Farrage, then....?', or 'Elon Musk controls our brains using PayPal and satellites...'.

How's the house-hunting?

...admittedly, distance keeps me from attending meet-ups, generally, but I'm not sure how mind control doesn't inevitably come up!

In all seriousness, though, I feel like it's sadly more due to tone than topic; wish that discussion on any/all topics could just be respectful and well-mannered.

I could be way off the mark as I don’t know the person involved, but when I read the comment within the thread that was closed, and then the comment this morning about leaving, I assumed the later was because the topic and content of the thread, not because it had been closed.

Generally agree with that assessment, from here. I just submit it's more tone than topic...and that's kinda the line I was drawing in my last post. I think, as others have stated, that folks are free to read or ignore any thread, regardless of topic. I mean, I'm not gonna go wallow in the Levante thread, because I don't have one and probably won't. But if I did wade into a Levante thread, it's incumbent upon me not to call Levante drivers a bunch of...what's the word..."wankers" for buying them (not that I think they are) or insulting the intelligence of their parents or children...

Those with passion for the imperfect but love the history and the emotion that Maserati brings to the hairs on the back of your neck

To be clear ,If we are referring to the fact that a highly regarded long time member this morning wrote that he was leaving the forum today on the Good Morning thread (Today I will be mostly leaving this forum.) just possibly over remark I made in reply to his comment dissing the thread in general , then Im sorry and quite happy to apologise ............no ill intent was intended and never would be .............we are all adults and I admit im probably one of the worst when it comes to sarcasm in my tone ...but in my defense I just iterated he had freedom of choice and that he was free to read or not read the thread.
Ironically he commented that the topic should be discussed elsewhere ....which prompted me to point out he was in control of his own mouse ( sarcastic I agree) .....but then we are all adults ... and the last thing i would want is some one who I consider an old friend/acquaintance to have a hissy fit and leave on my account especially when i drift in here from time to time

Guilty as charged! I sentence myself to changing the oil and plugs in the Spyder this weekend.
