The Japanese will buy a LHD Maser not a RHD one. More status in having a LHD car as they're more expensive to acquire in Japan. So a lot of the prestige cars you will see there are are LHD!

Very true although I could never understand their reasoning.

Just watched it .... Think the car will be very colour sensitive......but the one thing that kept coming back to me that it just isn't moving me......It's not a Maserati I yearn for. Kept thinking the new Jaguar F Pace looks better......Shame as some pictures I've seen I have thought it looked pretty good....Not an inspired piece of design for me I'm afraid....Was hoping seeing a road test would make me want it but it just hasn't...

The value will all be assessed when we see the standard spec and options prices. One of the things that surprises me with the Ghibli is how much you don't get in the price - paddles, metallic, tints, memory seats, heated seats, DAB, tiny wheels with mega upgrade costs, skyhook, only 3 standard leather choices, crappy wood trim and then the only nice trim options cost a fortune etc etc.

All academic to me as I would buy the petrol.

Reads fine. From the front is does look like it should be hoovering up the ocean floor. Mind many 'modern' cars do.

2 positive early pre-reviews - you wonder if they trade positive coverage for early access to the car. I hope not but often its the case.

Promising sounding reviews for sure, let's all see once we get behind the wheel for a test drive but the early signs I would say are good, especially as the general consensus was not altogether optimistic

Decided to keep my order (they offered me my money back when I found out no petrol). 2 interior packs apparently - a zenga luxury option and a crabon sport option.

It's not bad value. Just guessing but metallic, tints, bigger wheels, paddles, DAB, memory heated seats and that could do. Run it for a couple of years and it should not trouser too much.

Discounts?

I'm tighter than that so would turn £53k into £57k with options and then want 10% off.

Put £15k of extras on the Macan as leather, sunroof nice wheels are all extras. I think (hope) Maserati will have a much better basic spec but yes probably looking at £60k+

Well you can look at the Ghilbi diesel price list and take a view. No way as silly as a Porker but still some things are extra that surprise.

Having seen and sat in both Levantes at Geneva yesterday, I remain very impressed with the looks and feel of the car in the flesh. Judging by early road reviews, Maserati looks to have produced a truly competitive luxury SUV. I will certainly consider one, particularly if the petrol version arrives in the UK 12 months after launch - as was the rumour at Geneva.
