Sales of diesel Ghiblis outnumber petrol by about 4 to 1 I reckon. Not an official figure, just my estimate based on how many of each are on sale on Autotrader and PH at any one time.

Suspect it's even more in the favour of diesel than that given dealers will be forced to register a number of petrol cars pa even if there is no real underlining demand - the real bargains are in those as you will testify Outrun.

I'm sure that's true for the ghibli as they have pitched it at the fleet market where the benefit in kind is based on emissions. I can't see the levante being a fleet car.

If you go on the Swiss Maserati website you can configure a Levante, the options are loaded but no prices .

Lots of X5s etc are sold as company cars so why not?

Maybe but I think the monthly will be very high due to it being a higher list price and probably higher depreciation . Regardless it's a crappy decision to put the UK behind Europe.

I agree as, for me, any Maserati I buy will be petrol. I have a diesel as my main car - a Discovery - and it's annoying that they make that car in a petrol V6 but refuse to sell it at home.

No different from having the Q4 version of the Ghibli available in LHD only. Look what happened when BMW finally woke up and started offering X-Drive on their 3 and 5 series. Now the UK buys 40% of these with X-Drive, because it gets cold here from time to time! Maserati are completely out of touch with market demand in the UK, which given the interaction i've had with Maserati UK, is no surprise at all. Not a clue.

Agree with all of that, every 320d wagon you see in Scotland is xdrive. Brilliant car.

In the Telegraph the MD of Maserati UK or Europe or whatever said that he had not driven the Levante yet. What on earth is that about, someone that senior not driven it yet? The Germans and Jag/LR do it very differently for a reason.

He's not driven it but is happy that they'll only sell the diesel version in his market. Interesting.

Another sad state of affairs, it seems that we all care more about the brand than some of the hierarchy

Maranello confirmed just one engine in the UK. The choice of colours also poor - sickly green, greys etc but no blue

No Blu Passione (my fav) or Blu Emozione like on the QP/Ghibli?

Shame about the the engine. Taken with the colour news as well it is if they cannot really be bothered!

Clearly they do not think the UK is an important market. Maybe based on disappointing sales of the Ghibli and QP. I doubt the UK has ever been a high volume or important market for them.

If you go to Maserati.co.uk it only seems to have the Levante Diesel mentioned, as to be expected if they aren't bringing the petrol here. However, the colour list they have is ok, and includes both the blues so not sure Maranello are right on that? I can't see any reason why limiting the range of colours would save any money development wise?

Just had a quick look at Maserati UK site and a Passion blue is available.
Also good to see Adaptive Cruise Control being made available. I expect it will appear on the rest of their range I due course. This is one feature I always found useful on previous cars. From digging around on the internet it also seems to include a queue assist function. The MTC also seems to have some new features.
Presumably given the UK is one of only a few RHD markets Maserati are sold in, the development costs of developing the petrol engines for RHD didn't make financial sense. I am sure the handful of Leventes due for here will easily sell as diesels.
My diesel Ghibli, as already said sounds great from the exhaust end, but up front you can tell its a diesel.
Although at idle (always the give away) it's certainly as smooth and quiet as anything from its rivals, with the possible exception of a 6 cylinder BMW diesel. Whilst in normal driving it maybe quieter than the petrol.

Thanks Keith - yes you are right I missed the fact that you could scroll over to other colours which were off screen. I am due to test the Ghibli diesel this week so I'll reserve judgement then.

I guess most people with an SUV in the UK would be happy with a diesel anyway & the Ghibli diesel is good so maybe it won't be so bad?

I think that is all true just a shame they did not try harder and give us the petrol as well.
