Hi everyone,

Need a bit of help valuing a car a good friend being forced to part with (extremely reluctantly), purely due to non use and the arrival of a car with similar capability and partly due to his better half forbidding him having the pair.

The original purchase invoice for the car is shown below, purchased from Maserati in 2010 with 1200 miles on the clock as an ex demo. It is in just about perfect condition, not a stone chip or blemish in sight. Full Maranello service history, £5000 spent recently to completely rectify (and pretty much retrim) the interior leather glue problem. It has only ever been driven in France and Italy and to and from the Channel Tunnel and has a total now of 16,150 miles on the clock. I will confirm but I don't think its ever seen rain....sits under a soft cover in a heated garage on a trickle charger. I am obviously bias but I also have a very keen eye for a car and have never seen a nicer QP V out there.

It is blue Oceano with Avorio leather, alcantara headliner, piped in navy blue, custom dash and parcel shelf in navy etc etc. The list is endless . Callipers in navy blue and 20 inch wheels.

What is it worth to the right purchaser? He is hoping for early/mid 40s. Is this realistic do you think? Over to the experts.

No matter how attractive the car or price it's a limited market. So depends on how long you have.
May be best served by inviting a few of the respected dealers like Richard Grace the option of making an offer before it gets advertised generally as may get a bit more from them that way.

As others have said - too expensive
Personally prefer Piano Black to wood on the dash
If I was in the market I would be starting at about £32000 and see what happens..........................

How much has your friend been offered as part ex against his new vehicle ?

Then add on a couple of £k

Didn't HR Owen in London have one with about 7k miles which was advertised at £29k? I think it was a little older, though - 2008?. I was looking at the time but it had sold when I phoned.

I do like the look of this one, the colours and the spec. No brown leather in sight :)

With much higher mileage cars on offer from small dealers in the high 20s £k this has to start with a 3 but would have to come from a main dealer to start with a 4. So I agree with the comments above but only start at £32k if a quick sale is required.

Hi all, thanks very much for your input. A quick sale is not required, its just not going to be used at all now so it would be better off in a new home. I guess he will have to try to find someone looking for a very highly specced car (perhaps with a sunroof being a deal clincher) willing to part with a small premium for one that is absolutely pristine. I doubt the 4k comfort seats option will help!! I went to see a couple locally today to compare and it was a different ball park - cannot believe how the leather issue seems to be ubiquitous too....is it the same with the Granturismo where it starts peeling back off the parcel shelf and top of the dash etc etc?

As for the QP, beautiful colour. Price depends on how long you want to keep it and whether you really want one. If so then there will not be much choice.

Also the V6 petrol of the new shape drives very well - what do they start at?

About mid forties for a year old example with a few k miles. Bargain. Much higher standard spec than the Ghibli, more space, and a better ride. So unless you're short of space I can't see why someone would by the G over the QP.

Thanks, understand what you say. I'm in a loaner Ghibli at the moment and it is a tad
tight for the family.

Mines the same year and is the standard version but fully loaded, same colour inside and out. When I bought it in December last year I got it for £31K with 25k on the clock, it's had £5K worth of work now including proof that the variators have been correctly fixed and is valued between £32-£35K depending on whether it is a good day or not.

I would have thought yours is similar.

Isn't your a 4.2 though John...4.7's do have a healthy premium over the 4.2......

Options will make a difference but not by much.....It is about conditiona nd history more than anything and your car looks in great condition.....but they can take an age to sell as some will tell you from experience .... especially privately as punters want a bargain when buying private.....Still think you could put up for 37k and see how it goes but be prepared to come down.......40k plus I do not think you will get a bite......but you never know.
