Good afternoon all,
It's been a 14 month project from the day I first set eyes on my 3200Gt and deciding I had to have her, to getting her finished with all the inevitable stresses and strains we come to expect with our Italian beauties, but I think worth every minute (and penny...) - I hope you'll all agree!!
I wont list what I've had done to her over the past 12 months as frankly, it would take too long and putting it in to a formatted list would just remind me of all the expense! But below you can see the results - which I'm very pleased with!
At the end of January, after leaving the office at Friday tea time and joining the A64 for my weekly commute back to Leeds, I picked up a puncture. As I sat watching the traffic roll past, I decided it was about time I stopped messing about trying to complete the car "in stages", and just get her to Marios and the guys with a list of things I wanted doing and wait for it all to be done, properly.
As always; Marios gave me constant updates - endless (and priceless!) advice, and when I picked her up last Friday (which also happened to be my 31st birthday - nice gift eh?!), I remembered why I will only use the Autoshield guys when it comes to working on the car. They had her about 5 weeks and in that time she has been transformed; every little issue I used to have has been remedied; new back brakes, new leather dash top, new sunvisor (as the old one went floppy!), new gearbox seal, handbrake shoes, suspensions arm, boot seals, battery connector etc.. all done, resulting in a car which feels totally transformed on the roads!!
The final piece to the puzzle was getting the paint sorted... I decided to give it a full respray as there were little marks/scratches at various places around the whole car - and its a decision I'm very happy I made!! She now looks brand new - and under Marios' advice I went with the anthracite grey alloys - advice I'm glad I listened to!!
All in all, as you may have guessed - I'm absolutely chuffed to bits that she's all finished, she's mine, and I've got a friendly and experienced team of Maserati enthusiasts over the Pennines in Manchester that really know what they're doing! A message many of you have already suggested, but just to reiterate - Autoshield really is the dogs boll**ks when it comes to working on our motors!
All we need now is the weather to improve so I can take her out without getting her dirty!!
