Having picked up a Ford Mach-e, I can now join this conversation with some relevant opinion. Though, being in the Northwest US tilts the algebra quite a bit due to our abundant hydropower. Electricity here is only about 13p/kWh. Time for the UK to up their nuclear power game, methinks.
I do have a 9.6kW solar array, grid connected, so that has eliminated my electric bill so far this summer. Come October and the endless seattle grey season that will change.
The car is an absolute thrill to drive about town, with abundant torque, a silent, solid sense to the car. I installed a 220V outlet and mounted a ChargePoint home charging station in the garage, with the cable snaked under the door to the drive where the Mach-e sits. (Has to be kept in its place… it is “the daily”)
275 mile range, though I usually charge before the range gets under 100mi as my daily trips don’t take me far afield.
Haven’t had much of a road trip past one or two counties away - for a longer, windy road drive, I’d take one of the smaller cars anyhow
No complaints about the electric car experience here! Happy to share anything else that may be of use.
