Slowly but surely that will turn the ship around. Here in the US, similarly slow, though the recent approval of small modular reactor prototypes is promising

Rolls Royce have a similar solution of Small Modular Reactor, each producing 500MW which is not far off what a current AGR produces. Each cost a £1b. A mere snip.

Yeah, me too. You need a smart charger for intelligent octopus which I don’t have. My wheeze on Go is I turned off the gas to may house for the summer and used the immersion to heat my water. It halved my bill. Winter will be less fun.

Might be postcode dependent?

I know a few on it and they are all over the place, no idea why. But I am going to moan at them for hiking it compared to yours!

What I did discover is that the standing charge also includes paying for failed companies. Life is good when you own the casino I guess.

So the Zep's nightly routine is dishwasher on, washing machine on, mobile phone charger on and storage heaters on.

I got some Wi-Fi controlled sockets / fused spurs. So it all happens on its own. Plus you forgot the car charger.

I found out at the beginning that the thermostat on my immersion heater was fubar, which led to quite a hot shower in the morning :D

Happened to us when we first bought our house and found that the gas had been disconnected and so had to rely on the immersion heater. There was no thermostat or it had broken. The heater almost boiled the water and somehow we had hot water coming out of the cold taps too. Since this was the depths of January we needed to heat the place with every electric heater we could beg borrow or steal.

Luckily the electricity Co could not believe our first reading and assumed that the previous owners last one had been wrong so kindly reduced it! Wouldn't happen today though.

Which is actually a Top Tip.
Speaking with my mum, she says that the hot water from her combi boiler is too hot to touch when she does the dishes so why not turn it down?
Likewise, talking head on BBC news said that people are wasting energy heating water to 70C or 80C for their radiators. Turning down this circuit thermostat should save a few pennies.

When I used to go around the house telling the family off for leaving lights on, when we were paying £150 a month for gas and electric, is a bit of a joke now.
Our aga is off presently for summer, and when on off sets the CH so isn't too bad. I'm really hesitant switching it back on, when it will cost 7.5x more than last year. I just can't compute, seven and a half times more.

I’m looking at this now. Will
Use my 3.5kw array to heat water in an immersion heater before we use gas. That way the company I give electric away too can’t make the 1000% profit on my export. It’s shocking that those of us encouraged to go green and supply power get nothing in return when the prices go up. If you are just starting now there is absolutely no incentive to put panels on your house. Thank goodness ours were already bought and paid for.

Yep. You only need 60 which is what mine is set at. Even then the water in the sink for dishes is a bit ouch.
Another tip. Bin the dishwasher use!!!
It really isn’t needed.
