Dropped my spyder into KDS a well respected detailing company in Medway on Wednesday evening for a full make over.
15 mins after parking outside there unit i get a call from them to say that a guy from 2 doors down has reversed into it with his
Van. Q 5 mins of ranting from me. I went back to look and looked pretty bad to me anyway after i calmed down they assured me there dent man could sort it out. They rang yesterday and said all sorted . See pre and post photos attached which they sent me. For peace of mind i popped into have a look in person today and you would indeed never know it happened i`m sure some dark magic involved somewhere!
They had a Rolls Royce Phantom , Porche Cayene Turbo being detailed and have plenty of pre and post photo`s on there website .

Well, that is a **** fine fix.

These dent guys are getting very cleaver these days.

I remember seeing a 3200 down at Mike Roberts that had been kicked in, wing, door and rear quarter, and I mean a right mess.

Mikes dent guy (who lives a mile away from me and charged £250 to fix it - yippee!!!) had it like new in 2 days, it was perfect.

I would rather have the fix they did on yours than have paint, you just can always see the blend.

Wow! That's amazing. Not long ago that would have required some serious metalwork and paint to repair. Do you know if the area/paintwork is weakened by this sort of treatment? I was told that bent metal stretches and cannot get back to it's original state, but these pictures would appear to refute that.

Maf, they use shrinking hammers, so I suppose the answer to your question is no....but I am no expert.

If it looks right, with no paint and filler, then I think you can't argue with it.

^^^agreed. Anything which can keep the original paint gets my vote. Given that the old skills of panel beating were around long before P38 filler, I'm surprised that the paintless dent removal industry is so recent.

I have been told many times that the metal has a memory and if you repair it quickly enough, you'd never know. I think result depend on the specific dent too.

I had a neighbour revers into the wing of my M3 and BMW quote £980 to repair it (or £680, I cant totally remember...but that was after a discount as I said it wasnt an insurance job!). I used a PDR guy to repair it and had a couple of annoying parking dings taken car of too....£60 I think it was.

I'd accept that it wasnt 100% as there was a tiny scuff in the paint, but a detailing would have sorted that. I too would prefer this to a load of paint.

Kelly would not release the car to you unless he was happy with it and I guarantee his standards are way higher than any of ours. Keltec would be one of the premier detailing outfits anywhere...period. Your car will look amazing after the detail that I can promise you.

He's certainly got a great reputation, which is evident in that the guy is known on the other side of the world!

I looked at getting my M3 done by him a while back but was put off by how busy he was (took a while to get repsonses and he would always say "I'm so busy" which I though was a bit odd), but there's no denying, his work is top draw.

Glad it turned out okay, but that's a very lucky escape as the paint layers weren't broken and it was a 'soft' dent. Formed panels do have a 'memory', but the rule of elasticity applies. Thankfully the twonk in the van didn't break any crease lines!
