I remember ADG selling a GS about 5 years ago which the previous owner had commissioned a carbon fiber arm rest. It looked very OEM. Wonder if Alister has any photos on file?

A car with centre arm rest was on the market in in Sydney a year ago. Not only was there a very professional carbon fibre centre armrest, but a third speaker built into the doors.
I have photos on my laptop at work. Will post them on Monday.

I think that is the same one as I recall the extra pods for the front speakers in the door...again it was perfectly executed.

Please if you would....armrest, not the speakers.

So I searched the forums and read all the posts mocking those who inquired about a solution... But the reality is I needed something as I drive this car for fun on the weekends AND in a more utilitarian manner on the weekdays. So I wanted something that was stable and useable during the week yet easily removable so my fellow enthusiasts wouldn't know on the weekends.

First I made a cast using modeling clay of the useless tray behind the hand brake. Then my friend used this cast to make a fitted piece (out of wood for now) and this became the base for a generic cup holder I found at the auto store. I'll admit it's not the most convenient spot in the car if you are actually trying to drink and drive. But I use it primarily to transport beverages to my destination.

Alistair may know at ADG as he did post a responce to my observations but it was at least four years ago.

Does that arm rest not look a little high, would you not be knocking it with your elbow regularly at that height or have I got it wrong?

Certainly I would find it irritating

Haha, very restrained Catman, I thought you were going to detonate looking at those pics. IMO Speaker boxes look grotesque (these cars already have 8 speakers right?) Armrest looks naff, cupholders in carbon fibre? How heavy's that cup again? however driving a manual with a coffee on board is problematic at best and I'm too time poor to stop for a cuppa so no objection to them in principle. 3200 needs a cupholder and a sunroof, then its perfect (or less flawed, take your pick).

Heh. Not really. Ms Catman's 147 has an arm rest rather lower than that. It's a huge PITA to shift gear with it in the down position. Plus *for me* if I rested my arm on that one, it would go to sleep being way too high.

Speaker boxes I'm not a huge fan of, either. But I could live with them. The armrest looks like a shirt sleeve ironing board ;)

In my view both hands should be on the steering wheel. So, no real need for an arm rest.

A cup holder however would be useful. I've used drinks with a sports bottle top instead, so they can be firmly closed.

When I saw the car the arm rest was at the same height as the one on the door card. It looks like the seats have been set low...I would not be able to see the front of the car from there!
