finally got all the parts i needed to make a few more of the contact less throttle pedal sensor i built for my own car (now running 6 months without any issues) any one interested let me know. I will probably sell them from my e-bay account just to make payment easier. Its a specially made sensor manufactured to last the life of the car and its mounted in a precision machined all metal housing with roller bearings. It should outlive the car easily!

Splendid piece of work Davy, great finish, stable housing!
Is the sensor equped with the original connector, making it plug and play?
What output voltages did you choose?
Together with the contactless Tb, this would mean a troublefree throttle circuit at last!

Well thats a fairly positive response. I am looking for £350 a unit (retail will be a little more i suppose! so you have your discount), which covers my costs and a little to spare, I was more or less just trying to offer others what i had got on my car which to date has been excellent. I believe the car has generally been better to drive and certainly starts well and idles better than it used to. It is simple enough to fit, although i recommend setting up the output voltages exactly to the Maserati spec (mechanical adjustment of sensor and pedal) so it will be right. Since it should last as long as the car it may as well be set up right. It produces two redundant outputs exactly as per the original unit, so there is no compromise technically, I will supply with a matching connector, and a lever arm with the ball on it, so it will just plug in. The transducer was specially made by a throttle pedal sensor company to the Maserati spec, they just would not make the body and all the mechanism, so I had them made too!! Will post a fitting procedure later this week with some photos. Any one wants one PM me.

on the question of whether this will work on the 4200 I am not sure. I have never owned a 4200 so don't know what the difference is. any one got specs or an old pedal sensor i can work out what it will take to replace this one too. I will do some investigation and see what i can find out. Even if its different since its all made to a spec there would seem no reason i can't make one to the spec? simples? mmmm.. well it is a Maserati I suppose.

Hi Davy, I have a 4200 throttle pedal pot that you're very welcome to. If it allows you to develop a contactless version, it's demise will be in a very good cause. :D

PM me your address and I'll post it to you.

Cheers, Em.

Thought the 4200 was already DBW???

Yah it is, drive by wire is a rotary potentiometer, this ones a contact less potentiometer however, so no wearing parts as such.
Does the 4200 have a problem with the standard pedal potentiometer though?

The reason I have a spare one is that I changed it thinking I had a flat spot on the throttle curve, but to be honest the replacement wasn't discernibly different. Would be interesting to get the readings off it though and to have someone knowledgeable take a look at the internals to see if there is any wear.

Hi Davey83

If u do manage to conduct and autopsy on Miles's unit, please post up pics. of the internals- curious to see how these things work.

Sounds great, looks great and I am sure it will be great for all of us 3200 owners at some point! Well done for your perseverance! If it helps, let me know and I can have a chat with the people that make my contactless transducer for my throttlebodies, about reducing the cost!
