Thing is China is producing a lot of stuff for Manufacturers and that's where we are.
My recent experiences working for Manufacturers was Ford and Toyota lots of everything.
15 years ago with Toyota working for AM at Gaydon a lot of stuff from China.
The one that hurts me but I don't need to buy any more tools is my beloved Snap On with a lot now made in China and not USA.
As time goes on we have no choice it seems.

As time goes on we have no choice it seems.

It has already started going the other way as companies want to take back control of their manufacturing and sometimes the lack of control costs more in the long run than just nailing down unit costs

The fashion industry is a good example where they are using Turkey and North African countries for textiles rather than China.

Things like castings snap-on is probably a good example, are still lured to China because they are willing to do the dirty process of making steel on mass at very cheap rates while other countries are decarbonising... China would rather put their population through rolling black outs every day to reach their climate targets so the factories don't stop... It's not sustainable but who's going to stop them!

Same chap, I think. We've been having some conversations

I would like to see a UK based engineering firm work out a way to service/fix these - for example, Maserati Shed service/fix the complicated throttle bodies used on the 3200.

Probably needs a specialist like sportsitalia to pre order X amount to justify looking at it.

I am thinking of a Sportsitalia type organisation that would exchange the units for say £350. These things are circa £700. Would be great if someone clever did a fix on the hub i.e. replace the $1 sensor that is the thing that breaks.

I'm useless at any form of engineering - I can't even hang a picture. But it seems like a smart business opp.

It's been examined in great depth by some of the brightest (well loudest) minds here, and pretty much deemed impossible due to the construction.

From what I have seen, near side/gutter bearing fail the most. If you look at the state of the bearing that comes out, it’s heavily corroded.

I suspect what happens is the corrosion narrows the tolerance between the two rotating halves and basically shaves the top of the abs sensor off. Either that or it allows water inside.

Seems o/s/f. Car's been sat for a while. New battery solved it some time ago. Oddly, all 4 wheels independently report rotation direction and speed, but there's a permanent No Signal on that wheel regardless

You've got the car for its new clutch next week. I do sometimes love the timing of these things!

When I say love, I really mean loathe.

Can the sensor alone not be replaced? Or does the corrosion affect the bearing itself so both need replacing? Do they come as a complete unit?

So the sensor embedded in this wheel bearing hub is a “speed” sensor? Is the ABS sensor located elsewhere of the same thing?
