i just tend to think todays generation arent as interested in cars as we are
Looks very nice....wonder what it might make? Anyone registered to bid on Brightwells before? Just set up an account and it seems you need to pay a deposit of £2.5k just to be able to even bid, Is that right and normal?

pretty sure i did once and it was a £500 deposit, 2.5k seems way over the top but not sure whether its due to covid and making sure on line bidders are genuine and follow through with purchase

Yes - a couple of years ago. Think it was 5K then. Most likely a precaution to weed out virtual tyre kickers. As I didn't "win" the deposit was returned within a couple of days. Found them very straight forward to deal with.

Thanks. I can understand that but £2.5k seems a bit over the top though. I would have said there should be no issues if the money paid in 24 hours or at least 10% deposit on winning or second bidder gets it surely. How many £2.5k's are they going to get? Seems like an unnecessary risk to the potential buyer to me.

I won't be registering or bidding in this case then as don't trust anyone to give £2.5k to at the moment. If they go bust overnight I lose £2.5k for nothing. It is unlikely but not impossible in the current climate. Not sure if I were a seller I would feel it was the best place to sell my car. I can't be alone in thinking the same surely.

One of 52 in Moonstone Blue, lowing miles.
I’m thinking £90k at least.
Not seen much buzz about it though... https://mathewsons.co.uk/auctions/a...277-new-entry-1988-ford-sierra-rs500-cosworth

Have a fondness for these. My mother had a red normal one, which we later found out was a buy one get one free cut and shut. My dad apparently didn’t spot the welds because he was freshly from the snip and couldn’t bend down low enough. Fond memories of my mother absolutely spanking the nuts off it, sliding around on the vinyl seats in the back. Probably why I like quick cars now...

been thinking that for a while, once our generation are pushing up daisies who's going to be interested in cars that we adored/yearned for as we grew up
Spoke with my son who is 29 last night and he wants to do a Euro trip in a Jaguar XJ6 like the one I had when he was a kid says it's one of his favourite childhood cars that I had.
I started looking and have found a nice 5 speed manual one in Italy for a bargain price just need normality to return.

I can’t find it now but there was an XJ12/Double Six on eBay that looked really well priced and in good nick.

Not only that @rockits but if the Targa makes say, £30K...you'll be light £34K after buyers premium +VAT if I understood correctly...
That car was/is advertised for £32K elsewhere...If it isnt selling already- why choose a auction with such a high premium ? It cant make +£27K before it costs less to buy it privately, at asking...!!?!

that sounds great, father and son on a road trip and in a classic jag, have you put a deposit down on the car to secure it
