With all this nasty weather in Bristol my alarm is constantly going off on my 04 4200. Is there an easy way to disable and/or desensitise the system? Please help, I need to sleep tonight!!!

You can switch the battery off with the switch in the boot by the battery. There may be a way of isolating the alarm but I'm no fuse expert. Reckon someone will let you know before dusk.

Be sure to leave driver door window down an inch, plus boot lid open for access before/after you turn it off.........might be a chore due to the weather you're having though!

Thanks chaps, any options keeping the interior dry & doors locked (I do live in central Bristol city centre!).

Lock car as normal, open boot with key, turn off battery, close boot.
Open boot with key, turn on battery, reset alarm with thob, close boot.

You don't need to leave window open or boot open. Just make sure you can open the boot with the key, which can be stiff if the key is not used often.

Yep this is the technique I employ so I can vouch it works and leaves it as secure as can be... but check the boot lock is lubed first!

Had this on the GS. Spoke to the dealer about it and it's the cabin sensors. The quick and dirty way is to disconnect both sensors. They are located behind both A pillar trims. Do a search in the how to section for dash top removal, it shows you how to do it.

Basically you pull off the curtain trim that goes above the door glass (inside) where it meets with the headlining, this then reveals the A pillar top fixing then the panel just pulls off.

You will see a small black box about the size of a box of matches, just pull the multiplug and tape it up do it does not rattle.

One on each side.

The A pillar trim runs vertical up both sides of the windscreen on the inside.

Mine used to go off when it rained heavy, usually in the middle of the night. The rest of the alarm still works this way.

I'm surprised no one has suggested this yet....by far and away the simplest way is to disarm the interior sensors when locking the car. Press (and hold) the lock button on the car .....a couple of seconds in, you'll hear a confirmation "bleep" and away you go. If we get back late at night, I sometimes leave the GS outside and the alarm would go off with the slightest breath of wind. This cured that.

Let us know if that works.

Cheers Frank. I foolishly changed by battery, thinking it was that....but alas, it seems it was just the sensitive alarm.

Nice one Woody! That's my kind of fix, being inherently lazy! Giving it a go now (simulating high winds with a stout shove!)
