Not mine, the front tyres.

Took it in to my local indy to fit my winter tyres last week. The insides of the summer tyres on the front were almost down to the canvas, despite there being around 4mm of tread left.

Looking at the winters I was refitting from last year, they were totally evenly worn, so something must have happened in the "summer" months.

Anyway, its in for wheel alignment on Thursday, they have all the camera equipment there so hopefully they can re adjust...

Has anyone else had uneven tyre wear on the fronts?

Yes, they all do this with the standard setup, Emblem in Poole are the only ones who seem to have realised this and modified the front camber. If you call Miles and say the forum put you on to him, he may well let you have the front camber settings.

Its worth every penny of the £200 they charge for getting full use our of a set of front tyres. The handling is much improved too.

Pretty standard on these, they are set up fairly aggressively and tend to scrub the inner edge of the inner tyre when cornering, there are independents who can dial this out for you.

Mine had terrible wear on the inside edges front and back, and the handling was awful, before I got the alignment done. Every time I went over a white line on the motorway I got a disconcerting kick, and the handling was very skittish otherwise. What a difference!

Indeed. I have quite the opposite issue

C

Me too haha

Yes what I find strange though is the first set of summers were fine, as were these winters.. so whatever has happened seems to have happened fairly recently..!

Had the same at my first Service on the Ghibli. The geometry was out and needed doing. Maserati recommended changing the springs at the same time. This was done under warranty.

Think I just fainted.

Many cars are not set right at the factory. I think they just build them up and load them onto a truck for their destination.

The thing that interested me most was that Maserati had the springs replaced at the first service. Is there a known problem there that they are keeping quiet about?

Factories are notoriously bad at setting up spring and dampers they just throw them down the line with that "it'll do shrug". It seems the more complex the suspension the worse it gets, so no harm in checking.

As Matt says Emblems setup is lovely, more feel, more grip and less wear what's not to like :) Although they always make sure there is at least half a tank of fuel in the car before they set it up, not sure it makes that much difference and they at least only charge cost, no added mark-up which I have known in the past
