Well I would like to grant all of our Australian contingent a good day off for Australia Day... I hope you are looking after that lump of red rock for the commonwealth!

Now get out there and rip it up with those lovely Maseratis!!!!

Have a great day guys...

I want to move there, but the wife is not up for it, left it too late now I think.

half my friends moved out about 10 years ago, they got houses when the exchange rate was good, but now its terrible for us Brits.

Happy Aus day 'muckers'

Thanks Newton, Frank and Matt
It's another day in paradise. Not so hot today at 24 but bright and sunny. Order of the day is a swim (pool is 27) BBQ. Lunch ( of course) game of golf and a fang in the Maser after the swim. Big night for tennis tonight if you folow. Nadal and Federer.
Life isn't half bad is it.
Cheers all

Yes it is, other than Masers being too expensive and we don't have Royal Portrush or Royal County Down.

Thanks to our English mates.

Along the same lines as Geoff, I'm having a BBQ and then off to the tennis tonight to see the clash between Nadal and Federrer.

(I don't have a pool). :-(

Good news Dem, if you move here you can bring your Maser free of taxes/duty. You will make enough profit to put a pool in your new home.

Yep, my understanding is you can bring the car free of duty/tax when you migrate here. Indeed Aussies living abroad can bring home a car duty/tax free if they have owned and used it ofshore for twelve consecutive months. Bizarrely the profit you can make on say a F430 ifyouwan bring one in duty free is just about enough to cover living expenses in the UK for twelve months. Nice way to drive a F430 for a year and have a twelve month holiday....all for free.

There ya go....the secret to all those who move out there and find the money side difficult.....buy an expensive supercar car ( not put many miles up on it) and flog it in Oz....result!

Here you go. I have used 67P as the exchange rate and rounded the conversion to the nearest 1000. GTI in the UK 16000= 24000 AUD In Aust 38000 so 14000 gain. 3 year old ( I used 2009 for ease) BMW 520D in the UK 19500 =29000AUD. In Aust 48,000 so 19000 gain. F430 in the UK 80,000 = 120,000 AUD whereas in Aust the car is 280,000 so a 160,000 gain. Basically not worth importing utilitarian type vehicles but if you are moving here even they make sense. If you know you are moving here you would order an Australian spec car in the UK and further reduce costs as no compliancing needed at all.
Cheers

Sister moved to W/A [Perth] a few years ago and she had never even visited the place. She is happy enough.

Invites me to visit but I never will, to hot, to dry and all the wild life want to eat/sting/kill you/burrow under your skin...oh I hate flies too.

I would rather holiday in Europe and see some history/design.

Still good luck to all who are there just stop nicking our Masers ;o)
