Nothing will stop it , if you're in a vulnerable group you need to self isolate yourself not expect other people to do it because they won't , a huge number of people live payday to payday , they're not going to take 2 unpaid weeks off work because they've got a cold no matter where they've been on holiday

I've just been in a cafe , the staff were asking every customer if they have any food allergies, if you've got food allergies that could potentially kill you don't eat in Cafe's , everything is somebody else's problem, when it's your life , you're the one that needs to protect it

Interesting.

Prompted me to look at the numbers for Australia, as I couldn't find them there (accurately) or on the JH dashboard

C
One of the chart shows 83 cases in Australia, and another map shows 11 have currently recovered.
I'm off to Oz next week. I'm flying via Singapore so my numbers will be up, no doubt.

There is a lot of talk of SSP being paid whilst off work in self isolation. It's not a lot at about £95 a week.
However not a lot has been talked about if you get it, what the recovery time is (variable of course) and how/when can you be classed as recovered to go back to work? I assume you must be tested again? All this is time, not earning.
You could be easily off work for many weeks.
I really can't see many 'sticking to the rules' at £95 a week.

Surely it depends on your employer and what sick pay is in place with individual contracts? Or is this being treated in a different way?

Personally. I think it’s going to get a lot worse in the UK before any improvement.

Nipped into Tesco’s to get a Mother’s Day card and was greeted by empty shelves.
Delivery dates for paracetamol was Friday. Pasta Friday (that’ll get longer with Italy on lock down) and Sunday for bog roll.

Went into Sainsburys Penrith today and to be honest the shelves were in pretty good shape although the toilet roll section was significantly depleted. But I could get everything else....like a normal weekly shopping day.

No need to be concerned my DW friend.
I am on 5mg per day (mainly due to Zep, Fc, Catman and Riverama), have never had the Flu jab although, I was exposed to some severe Chernobyl balding radiation a few years back and given the circumstances am totally prepared to Od on 10mg if push comes to shove.

Luckily I supplement such meds with “breastakle” pics from philw696 every day via Pm and that keeps me sustained and hopeful of the future.
Very cheap too, and he givesTesco points.
Just saying.
When it comes to colds and flu, I find Vit C (500mgs a day) is a massive help. I've taken Vit C every day for 10 years and in all that time I have only ever had 2 colds. Before I started taking it I used to get colds every year. So despite what the medical profession say about Vit C I really do think it has a positive benefit for your immune system.

I doubt many employers will pay sick pay, contractual sick pay, when you might not be sick but have to self isolate because you might be. Hence the SSP in this case. If you are sick and diagnosed, yes contractual sick pay.

I heard that an intravenous feed including vitamin c has been one of the treatments that has been successful in critical cases in China

Try newspaper..when I was a little lad and the 'Izal' had run out me mum used to cut up the left over newspapers into squares, tie the pad together with string and hang it up for us to use. It sort of worked.
Failing that try kitchen role...'one **** is all you need " . :D
