There is a lot of talk of SSP being paid whilst off work in self isolation. It's not a lot at about £95 a week.
However not a lot has been talked about if you get it, what the recovery time is (variable of course) and how/when can you be classed as recovered to go back to work? I assume you must be tested again? All this is time, not earning.
You could be easily off work for many weeks.
I really can't see many 'sticking to the rules' at £95 a week.

This is another reason why Universal Basic Income would be great. And possible to implement in the UK, now that we are out of the EU.

Along with a whole load of other things that we couldn’t do in the EU, like remove the “tampon tax” and create a level VAT playing field for digital books and publications.

There is a wonderful 'freaky fable', where the boy keeps crying 'wolf' until eventually a wolf responds to his call and eats him. The moral being, 'always correctly identify the emergency service you require when making a call'. I will try to find and scan a copy...

That's the point, isn't it. Cry wolf often enough, statistically you're going to be right eventually.
Maybe ;)

It's nice that people are getting so worked up about people hoarding a few bog rolls, yet aren't really bothered about 7 people people hoarding so much money that they have as much as the poorest 3 billion .

What's wrong with people. ?

They are mostly 'hoarding' equity in companies, not 'money'. Yes, Bezos could sell Amazon stock and use it to buy food for starving people (or whatever) but it relies on someone else spending the same amount of money to buy the stock (rarther than buying food...). Or, more likely, in a big sell-off the stock would drop to be worthless, and then Bezos would not be 'rich' and also everyone's pension funds would take a huge hit.

The sensible, moral thing for those people to do is not to 'give their hoard of money away now!', but to gradually turn their wealth into good projects, without disrupting their companies or the economy. A bit like this:

Indeed, as an example the Gates Foundation funds load of interesting stuff right round the world. A lot of these ultra rich guys have a much greater public consciousness than the media likes to portray.

Things have got really serious now.

The serviced office I'm in have withdrawn the biscuit barrels because of fears that they would help spread the Corona Virus.
So to be on the safe side, I put two packets of chocolate digestives in my office so I won't go without!

McLaren just pulled out of Australian GP due to team member testing positive. La Liga suspended, suspect more to follow. Just when we will all have time to watch sport at home in isolation, there will be nothing to watch! I hear we are about to close schools so hope the X-Box doesn't fail!

We
Same, not sure we will be going to the canaries 2 weeks on Saturday...
We have a rather special family holiday booked to go to Dubai at Easter - the business class flights alone would buy me a decent 4200 !
Am hoping the decision gets taken out of my hands as to walk away will be very painful.

All the emails I get from my usual airlines tell me about the improved flexibility on tickets booked now. It's a cashflow play for them - they get the money in and booking confirmed, even if the date changes. Unless imposed by government restriction, I'd be amazed if they canceled any of them. As far as I know, travel insurance is guided by the FCO, so if the FCO says 'avoid!' you might be able to claim for the lost cost of tickets.
