We’ve just been out for dinner, our “slot” was 6:00-7:30, so how people are getting away with what GC said beggars belief.. we’re fed and watered, had a bit of social interaction “ in same room as other people” and feel all the better for it. I’m not a sociable person and even I’m missing being round other people, a little bit..

GC?

FWIW I'm probably the second or third most insular person I know. Even I would like to be able to smell and see other people at this point :D

A lot of the landlords are actually advising the customers to leave some food on their plates. That way they can legally continue serving drinks, and make some money. Can’t really blame them can you.
Can only assume that is in establishments that don’t really do food as a puller..we were time limited to 1.5 hours...was a quick £90.... happy hour specials too....

You are correct, a lot of pubs are wet pubs, rely on locals having a few pints, so every pint sold could probably make all the difference. In those pubs, as soon as you finish your meal you have to leave, the landlord can not sell you another drink.

Totally can't. Especially when the rules seem stupid. They might not be, but without an explanation of the whys it's a bit of a stab in the dark IMHO :(
