Italy recorded 919 deaths today which is their worst so far. Grim times out there, after the rate had slowed for two consecutive days. Our stats were 185 which is the highest so far.
Seeing the medical staff from Italy and Spain in simple paper medical masks, that are completely inadequate for any infection control, let alone this Virus breaks my heart.

Further to previous posts after some bad press on Social Media my company has finally decided to pull the plug on work and close site.
It’s been utter bollox trying to work ‘in the govt guidelines’ what a waste of everyone’s time and risking lives.
However I still have to complete some safety critical work which will take a couple of days next week so no actual rest for me.

Then on the daily video conference the project director pipes up and says “right we need to push the job forward, what can we do to achieve that?” FFS - we are builders and will be sat at home!

There is no doubt this has all been about money, the company are running scared they will be sued, because they haven’t finished on time - rest assured if anything happens to me in the next 7 days or so my wife will lay the blame squarely at the company who have put me in danger by insisting I go to work.

Sounds rough out there mate , commiserations sounds like the company is in damage limitation mode as is the whole country, Personally if your company is using penalty clause implications as reasons for failure to complete within schedule , they havent got a hope in **** legal wise of getting sued , no court in this land would agree that, not with this pandemic as good reason , take it easy bro , do what has to be done as safe as you can, nothing is worth your health mate

We are down to a skeleton crew, everyone else at home, still confusion of what actually is essential work, we are tied heavily into nuclear projects so I assume that qualifies, still, it's not nice being "out there"

Actually cried today after receiving an email from the manager of Child Secure Services begging for PPE to help to deal with disturbed kids in their care who may be ill.

I have small amounts in store but not authorised to share outside our service... yet watch people using stuff they have secured to walk their dog or go out jogging etc.

If you have any and your not front line please offer it to those who are helping those who are ill.

That makes me think, we have a "few" maybe hundred or so masks (ffp2?) that would maybe better used at our local NHS, worth pursuing with management?

I would claim "Force Majeure'..this is a global pandemic of monumental proportions so no contract would ever stand up in a court of law.

My brother has been able to order PPE from Singapore (placed the order last week) which is due for delivery next week. I'm not sure how he has been able to secure this kit but seemingly very easily. My old employee is also using PPE at the next level up from that required by the NHS to enable manufacturing to recommence. So why can't the NHS use a higher standard of PPE mask if necessary if it's more readily available?

Just a brief note. Like grief, this virus affects people in so many different ways. I hope you can all protect your loved ones. I trust enough of us can be sensible enough to make it through to the other side and we will once again be able to celebrate the differences that make us Maserati enthusiasts. For the time being, I trust we’re all doing our best to cope.

I was wrong, he ordered it 6 months ago. Apparently all manufacturers are 6 months behind on orders. Just isnt enough capacity anywhere to meet the current global demand. Its a really bad state of affairs.
