TBH I dont know why the supermarkets cant accept shopping lists from NHS staff which they can pick up the following day, at the end of their shifts. At least then they can be confident they will get what they need. Cant be that hard to organise ,can it? Come on Supermarkets get a bit more imaginative in your support!
That's because that is called being prepared (not the NHS but the country) and right now that is just not on.

Got to be honest, something I thought about earlier, even like trying to set up an nhs shopping service...even if the supermarkets prioritise nhs order and pick up....

It’s all a bit doom and gloom so two things to perhaps cheer you up.

Yesterday was the first day in almost two weeks that we’ve had no new sick/isolating staff. Admittedly we’re part of a very safety conscious industry so are indoctrinated to follow the rules. If only everyone else would do the same.

And on the subject of sinophobia

Oh, that big mark is still on the window :D

This is a brilliant idea. Perhaps we should all consider making contact with a key worker we know and offer to do their shop for them.

Having spent the best part of 31 years of my career defending our sovereign interests, its time for some of those in wider industry involved in the C-19 pandemic , to think a bit more out of the box to get things done. I saw a fantastic example today on LinkedIn when the Head of Supply Chain for Boots issued a general appeal to everyone for help in keeping the pharmaceutical supply chain working. There must have been 40+ offers of help from both small and large logistics companies keen to offer their services for nothing, for the greater good of the country. This is the kind of thing which really makes me proud to be British!! A massive well done to our Logistics companies for acting so quickly to a request for urgent help.

Indeed Loz but these were brought in (they waited a week) from an external source thus not affecting any other deserving causes.

Were paid for directly by the employer at no cost to you and I. So a bit unfair to chastise I feel.

If they were available but no commandeered why should they be denied?
Clearly missing the point.

There are 100s of front line staff who are unable to work because they are waiting to be tested putting many lives at risk if they don't get back to work fast enough.

If Portsmouth FC want to test people why don't they pay for the test at your local hospital where it will do far more good.

I have a 50 year old staff member in an induced coma at the moment due to the disease... yet the local health trust are unable to test his colleagues, so even more of my staff are SI putting even more strain on the system.

What website is that from please?

I don't know wher the graphic came from, but the data are fairly accurate. I reconstructed this using various data sources, and if you chose to plot a 14-day lag, it looks like a strong correlation. But if you chose a different overlap, such as starting from date of first death, it is not quite so neatly doom-laden. I would say it is too early to call, but another week of data might be compelling.

Portsmouth FC paid for testing equipment to be brought in privately at a cost of £6000 at their expense not denying anyone else test facilities. Other clubs have done the same. Please get your facts right.

Yeah, and I paid for my 8,000 bog rolls privately at my own expense so not denying anyone else any bog rolls! :p

They can’t even get face masks out of storage to put on nurses and doctors faces to save them from death... how do we expect them to get one extra button on click and collect sorted...

Very Good point . There is a phenomenal effort here in South Wales- a big consortium has got together (universities, industry and clinicians) and we are brainstorming ways to help. Already 3D printed some vital parts, manufacturing in house hand gels, trying to print masks and getting PPE from any source possible. Some brilliant people out there. My university hand delivered 200 FP3 masks the very first evening I asked for help. Still some good people out there. A Geoff Capes Around each corner :)

..I am just shocked by how the people in this country aren't listening to advice. It's like they they think it will not happen to me. Pubs, restaurants closed yet a hotel in Chepstow yesterday was rammed as they are allowed to be open....loop hole that needs closing....People going to beauty spots and socialising....keep fits classes being held in parks...!!!!!....Even in my own family....my parents still think they can do what they always have. They are 80 and my father has cancer...Stern words from me. They don't realise if one of them have to go to hospital the other will not be able to visit or any of the family. If heaven forbid it takes their life then they will die alone in hospital without their love ones. Sobering thought for me. Do the public really understand or just paying lip service to what the government is saying. The government have been clear with advice yet people still see this as a way to undermine what they are doing on social media.....This is time to come together and support what is advised....if this gets worse there is only one group of people to blame.....us......not Boris, not the government ...... We are in charge of our own destination here.....You just have to look at Italy to see what could happen...Sorry for an early morning rant but this is fecking serious...

Don't apologise Andy, this is not a winter sniffle, it is serious. We all need to be responsible through this, and I mean for longer than the 12 weeks till summer. With cases in Egypt and other hot countries there is no evidence this will go away when it gets warmer like the flu does.........which to answer the op's original question, yes I am worried.
