Lambo springs to mind but you're going to tell us it's a kit car made from a Fiat X19..

Toyota MR2?

.....the car we owned as a mark I......all those years ago.....took it to France and listened to to the sniggers of those who read its name off the back .....when MR2 spoken in French is sounds like........their word.......merde.....= SH!T....;)....;)

Toyota never sold the MR2 mark I in France......hence the interest and gaffaws!!!

Yes it's an MR2. £80K conversion. Some millionaire type person did it for his son as his first car. He spent well above that, as the lights are the real thing, as are the wheels and other bits and bobs. Chucks out about 360bhp apparently. Now owned by a guy who has the real thing. Believe it or not he's robbing the real bit's of the kit car to go on his Murcie.

Utterly bonkers, but impressive none-the-less.

It's down at Matt's for the swap and to get it ready for sale. I'll try to post some decent pictures once he's fettled it.

What is the point in spending £80k on a kit car? For another £30k you could have a 'Real' Balboni

I know what you're saying Nick. Quite bonkers.

Have to say it's impressive though. This is it when it was first done. Since then it's changed a bit with different Murcie wheels and the later rear lights...

Its really well done and will fool most of the people most of the time. Alas, It's a bit like putting a pair of socks down the front of your trousers; at some point you will get found out.

I don't like all these MR2 kit cars personally. I can appreciate the effort that has gone into the recreations however. The MR2 should not be considered something to be ashamed of though. They are brilliant inexpensive cars, there really is no need to dress them up like this.

I stand by this philosophy that I've actually embarked on a project to show my belief in the MR2's vehicular DNA. It will take me a while, but hopefully I will succeed and be able to share it all with you in the, hopefully not too distant, future. :)
