Are there decent alternatives for 4200 service parts - air and oil filters, plugs etc? Just been on Eurospares and can't believe the cost of parts.

Hi Yeti, yes most parts have been substituted on here, brakes especially, air filters are listed multiple times, pollen filters as cheap as £7 with many to choose from). Plugs, just spec at your local motor factors. Oil and oil filters are not substitutable.

I have tried a search using the search routine but found very little, I'll need to have another dig and just trawl through

Just do a bit of digging on the alternative parts thread for numbers.

Yes air and oil filters are OEM only, you can fit a BMC cleanable air filter, that’s about it I’m afraid.

Oil is Shell Helix 5w40 Ultra fully synth and can be purchased from ECP with offer code at a reasonable price.

OEMassive,Shenzen,China make oil,air & pollen filters for current Ghibli. Check their website.
Eurospares do a kit including the filters, belt, bearings etc. which is quite cheap compared with the cost of buying items individually. From what I can see the filters are either Purflow or Chinese brand,so you may be able to source if you know what other car uses the same filters. I'm amazed that someone hasn't yet made a sandwich plate for the Maserati so we can use cheap oil filters and smash the monopoly.

I for one wouldn’t fancy having the “your oil filter destroyed my engine” discussion.

Happy to save money on air filters and pollen filters, happy to spend money on oil filters and oil!

Best place for oil filters I have found is H R Owen ebay page, they usually have some on there for about £25 which is cheapest I have found, I bought a 'few' a while ago.

Stuff from China tends to come with a nice letter from the forced labourer nowadays. Avoid for the sake of a few pounds

Don't get all the fuss around China using prisoners to make stuff. In the UK all convicted prisoners are obliged to work unless sick or retired.

"In the UK all convicted prisoners are obliged to work unless sick or retired."

The major manufacturer of white goods in USA is the prison system. All countries turn their prisoners into useful members of society while they are incarcerated.

I can't understand your aversion to Chinese goods, the "genuine" Maserati oil filters are clearly marked "Made in China".
