Today I have paid the deposit on a used GranTurismo S Auto

Once its ready to collect, I will post some pics up etc. Many of you will know how excited I must be and how long those few days from deposit to collection take to pass! That's where I am now.

The expertise on this forum was instrumental in helping my decision making process, so thanks for that.

I am near York

I had driven a 4.2 some time ago and knew that one variant or another would be my next car. Tried a 4.7 S and and S Auto and preferred the latter. Been looking for 'the right one' for a little while and reckon I have found it.

The comfort, the noise, the looks and the practicality - probably in that order, are the things that appealed to me. Coming out of a 997 and Rangie, consolidating 2 to 1.

Only slight concern I have is keeping the cream (avorio?) leather clean....

Probably collecting on Sunday 29th or Monday 30th...

Enjoy. Get some top quality car leather wipes and avoid dark dye jeans.

What colour paintwork?

hi great car, look forward to the pics

regards the seats - leather is easy to keep clean, protect it 2-3 time a year and about once every other month with just a warm slightly damp cloth, wipe over - light colours also don't show the marks as bad as black seats.

Welcome JP and congratulations on your choice, you will love it. Regarding the leather, keep clean with a leather cleaner and then a good leather protector left to dry, some are waxed based which I use and any marks just wipe off with a damp cloth and I have black leather seats which look first class.

Get the blue cleaning fluid from Woolies and a conditioner called Gliptone.

Google them, they are the business especially the cleaner.

Congrats on the purchase, happy days are just round the corner!

I am sure its good, but it is pricey.

Leather car is all about what you put in, it takes time an patience.

The Woolies leather cleaner strips dirt like I have never seen before. With any harsh cleaner, you need to condition straight away or the leather will dry out.

All the best.

Welcome to the forum JP and congratulations on your new Maserati. I'll look forward to hearing how you get on when you pick it up.

Regarding the leather, a good tip is to pop a glass of warm water in the cabin overnight. Don't forget to take it out though, or you'll have nicely hydrated leather, but wet carpets! :D

JP - lovely choice. Also, great to see it will be the daily drive (if I read the 2 into 1 comment correctly).

Good tips for leather care there, we should start a specific thread on that so everybody can see it?
