That’s factory finish, the blue is the overspray. Nowt to get worried about.

I couldn’t work out how the bulbs came out of my Merc till I found this, yours might be the same.

Thanks for allowing the heart palpitations.

Discovered it was an anti clockwise twist (unlike the qp it seems (based on the video at least)).

From memory, from Maserati they are a part of the entire headlight but do know they can be purchased individual from another brand

Hi Guys

The saga continues...

I have a new headlight cluster (which in fairness the car needed due to the cracks in the existing (hence water ingress) and the piece of 2x1 holding the headlight up due to an entirely missing top bracket on the cluster).

Headlight fitted and plugged in and same error and no RHD headlight - indicators and DRL function ok however (so I assume I have plugged it in correctly).

I have checked the following fuses:
Engine bay F17 (RH High Beam)
Engine bay F24 (RH spot light)
Internal Compartment F12 (Right hand low beam)

Disconnected and reconnected the battery just in case.

Is there anything obvious I am missing or is a journey to an auto electrician (or Marios) on the cards?

Thanks

I think it has to be coded to the car but I could be very wrong. There was a similar issue on the other forum

Thanks catman. Do you mean the life forum?

If so I thought the coding was to do with the adaptive element? But that wouldn't explain why the bulb is out.

Thanks

Yes I do mean the adaptive part but I thought the guy on the life had the same issue not illuminating as well?

Checking the basics, do you have voltage?

Ah I see.

Time to show my ignorance - how / where would I check for voltage?

Thanks

Ahh, well that's going to need more specific knowledge but at a guess when the lights are turned on, there should be 12v on one terminal of the connection, which you could measure with a voltmeter.

But you might want to tread carefully. I'm sure a couple of people will be along soon to back up how good I am with electrics ;)

Ha ha - do you have form?

Makes sense re measuring it - theres a fair number of pins on the connector (not sure where I would look downstream) so would definitely need some guidance - electronics are not my forte!

Tempted to put it back together and take it to GC Motors as they have an sd3 unit so might get better diagnostics than my cheap obd scanner

Thanks again for your help

Lesson learned on buying second hand parts...

I dried out the ballast from mine and now get movement in the headlight adjustment motors (with nasty grinding noises) but bulb is still dead.

Now hoping a new ballast will sort it otherwise new headlight it is!

Tbh the carcass of the headlight is in far better nick than the one I took out of mine although there must be a crack of some sort that allows water ingress to the ballast (hopefully sealable).

So the optimist in me believes he thought it worked that said he has been largely unhelpful so far. May end up being an expensive lesson.

He claims to be refurbishing a GT (out of Manchester (with front bumper lhd headlight damage)) so may appear here - trading on eBay as derebori-0

Sorry to hear that. I would put a claim in against him as not sold as described orclaim from PayPal if you paid that way. The only downside is you have to wait an age.

Very happy to report a new ballast has sorted the issue.

Now just need to:
  1. Figure out where the water is getting into the cluster and seal it up.
  2. Revisit the top bracket of the cluster (which was missing on my broken one hence the 2x1 wedging the cluster into place).

Thanks for all the help and comments.

Hopefully I'll be back on the road soon without anymore bills! (My 2013 has cost me more in 3 months than by 2008 did in 3 years)
