Adaptive light control unavailable and failed headlight

Hi Guys

Just received 'the adaptive light control unavailable' message and when parking up in the garage on return noticed from the lack of light that the driverside headlight is out. I also noticed a significant increase in condensation since I last looked at the headlight assembly.

The manual is light on detail beyond take to a dealer.

Is the warning light linked to a failure of the headlight or have the bulb and the adjuster failed together due to potential water ingress - is that feasible?

I am going to check the fuses and if they are ok then attempt to get into the headlight having taken the wheel off - am I right in thinking this is the best way?

Can anyone advise what bulb (xenon) is required?

Thanks sprout

Water ingress is a bad thing. There is a likely design fault that water gets into the ballast. That, at least, is a generic component and may solve your issue. It may be more deep seated.

Agree with Kitty, the ecu on the bottom of the unit gets water in it and requires replacement.

Am hoping these can be bought individually?

If so what's the likely cost?

Thanks sprout

My understanding is they are generic items available from your favourite online supplier for not many earth Pounds. But never done it soooooo could be wrong

Hi Guys

Have started looking at this.

Wheel off and liner out. I am assuming the piece of wood is not a factory option... Any ideas why this would have been bodged in?

In terms of getting the bulb out. I have been looking at the following video for a quattroporte

However for the life of me I cannot find the part that is depressed to twist the bulb out. Is the granturismo different?

Thanks for any help

Well hopefully it is a bracket broken. There is a bracket showing on parts list, but not sure if that is just for the washer jets. What's with the primer grey around it, any visible accident damage?

No accident damage I can see. It looks (I hope) More like a poor finish.

Alas having pulled the headlight out - it's not looking good. Plastic weld galore and cracks all over.

New unit it seems

All that primer is a little suspicious. But I have no idea how well they body colour the underneath though tbh.

That’s factory finish, the blue is the overspray. Nowt to get worried about.

I couldn’t work out how the bulbs came out of my Merc till I found this, yours might be the same.
