Just been enquiring about a Cat S one on as it’s local to me. I thought it could make a good winter project as it’s had a relatively minor front quarter impact that on any other car would be easily repairable. However, not so on the Alpine because of its complex chassis construction with aluminium. Apparently there are very few places that will take on such work and only one - Martin’s in Basingstoke - that’s approved by Alpine but would not be economically viable ... Something to consider if you’re thinking of buying one of these. The rave reviews of the car on YouTube never seem to touch this sort of reality…
Not a consideration at all for me when I bought mine. And don’t see why it would be.
The ease or difficulty of repairing a car after a crash is if no interest to me at all. It’s things like handling, performance, looks and price that feature in my search criteria.
And don’t worry about insurance, as that is more led by theft rates and the likelihood of a crash, not the cost of the repair. Especially not with a car like the Alpine, for which, being so rare, crash stats are so negligible as to irrelevant.
No one would buy a second hand Mazer if they were concerned about repair costs! You only so much as have to sneeze at a 3200/4200/QPV for the potential repair bill to be more than its value. Car park ding? That’ll be an insurance write-off Sir!
