I would stay clear of a manual 430. They were developed w manual gearbox in mind. They are very odd. Stick to a true manual like 360 or earlier models.
I think a good 550 will not lose money over the long term

Correct. The 430 was NOT developed w a manual tranny in mind. The power train and gearbox should be F1. Anybody saying otherwise has never driven an old school manual Ferrari.
Same with the 4200 I was informed a while ago.

That I never knew. No reason I should, but always assumed a manual would be more special for more reason than just rarity. It’s maybe a bit like the manual V12 Vantage S - it’s just a stick connected to the same gearbox which was designed as an automated manual.

Loves cars but doesn’t know what’s what.
Given this scenario I’d suggest he”ll have far less headaches than something exotic if he buys a rather nice second hand Merc Amg variant.
Cheap too by comparison so he”ll have more cash in hand for more holidays or indeed mortgage repayment.

Against the grain I know but,

Pay off the mortgage

To be honest.....and although my heart would say Aston.....after being made redundant a few years back with the risk of that on my family I would pay the mortgage off as you can always take a loan out for a car.

I know there is a lot of love for a manual box on exotics but you can't beat the bang bang of an F1 box.
My old 360 was amazing for just that and the one I should have kept.

It sounds like the money needs to be wasted not invested so if it was mine (yeah right) I'd book a trackday in hired track cars every weekend for the rest of my born days or until I learn to drive. That way you can have the fun these cars deserve rather than worry about rain, salt, potholes, kids, other drivers, santa dropping prezzies from his sleigh...

An ex demo GT Sport is £75k, that’s some car. If he wants something more hardcore then this is the car for him;

If he’d rather something newer then what about this?

Or if he’d rather a Porsche,

There’s plenty of choice at this price point but just so happens we’ve a few that fit his bill well.

Maybe they have a buyer lined up Dicky, and they're playing for time to close a deal. I'm not normally a fan of black on black but I'd make an exception for that one; it's a nice beast and I'm not surprised you're interested.

Great choices there Dicky. The thing with the Cayman GT4 and 911's they seem to be bucking the trend on prices going down. The 360 is too old. My brother in law had one years ago and lent it me for the day and I just didn't like it. If not an Aston a GT4 is a great choice and drivers car. Prices have been strong since they came out and shows no sign of coming down.
