I'm assuming that's essentially what the live wire is on the receiver input and colour video input.

If that's the receiver, it's a little hard to see with it bundled up, but if there are two wires (a black antenna, and a red trigger) then yes it appears so. But I *assume* that yellow RCA is video *output* (from the receiver *to* the Pioneer). Again assumption that the red plug is power....

You are correct. Both have red and black wires and yellow rca, one has power which will presumably come from the pioneer unit.

I'm considering just using the supplied wired option, but that obviously means me getting that from the boot into the centre armrest console.

The red plug is the 12v positive supply so yes your trigger from the reverse light live (you can cut the male part off the longer RCA cable as it will be redundent), the black wire is earth (I don't connect these as its earthed internally via the RCA input into the box) and the yellow is the RCA cable that goes into the longer RCA cable and into the back of the AV in / camera port. I do loads of these on the GT/QP CarPlay upgrade. You may find you have a power line as my diagram below that powers the reverse camera so no need to cut into the reverse lights. So my red wire energises and sends 12v when reverse is sensed via the can line from the reverse selector.

Indeed. However the alternative is to find a reverse 'signal' at the armrest :( I'm a little bit out on that one

I'm assuming that when reverse is selected, the unit that's powered by the camera powers up and remotely triggers the receiver, which is connected to the pioneer unit no? This way it triggers wirelessly?

Do you run a wire from the boot to the unit or do you use a wireless kit?

Cheers

One would like to think so, but I rather expect no, otherwise, why have a trigger on the receiver. cf @conaero comments :(

This ive already managed to do, it's the running the cable from the boot to the car interior which I haven't got a clue about lol
I just did this the other day, remove upper rear seat and side panel. Pop the lower seat up to run the wire under the seat and carpet. there's a coupe rubber grommets that wires go through you can use. I taped the wires to a piece of brake line to poke them through.

GT/QP is the same, rear seat upper section out then either under the parcel shelf or through the large grommet in the rear bulkhead.

That was not fun in the heat lol

Cleaned the rear seats properly whilst they were out. Couldn't remove the side panel, gently pulled it away and unclipped one clip, then it split slightly, so I gave it a miss.

Running the cable was relatively easy.

Getting the final bolt to go in on the rear seats .... I may have sworn once or twice.

Now to take power from the reverse light feed.

All wired up, wasn't getting a feed from the camera originally, but I think after I changed the input video to NTSC, it suddenly produced the camera image.

Delighted lol
