The floorboard was actually a bit of the orange plastic/rubber from the old filter!!!! Does look like a bit of wood in that picture I hadn't noticed!! The observant will also have noticed I could not work out how to spin the pictures around once uploaded hence why the filter is on its side!!!

The air box has a fault and the fixings often break...hence the cable ties

Ok so the correct bolts and fixings may not fix it. I was nearly tempted to order a whole new box £170 glad I didn't if they have a known fault

I do like the scissor ones, especially as you can wheel them out of the garage and work outside.

Not a requirement for the tool but its a 1/2" drive oil filter tool like an oversized socket. It is the genuine Ferrari/Maserati one so it fits the ripples on the filter properly.

If you know the diameter of the filter and it has standard flats on it (like a nut), you might find that you can get a motorcycle filter socket to fit it rather cheaply.

However if the filter is in a tight recess (like Ducatii) then you need a Snap On/Blue Point one to get in the gap (or grind the flange off a cheap one).

This is the tool and they still have some available, I thought it was a very acceptable price...

I didn't realise they are that cheap!! I just ordered one. I thought for the sake of £10 delivered it was a handy tool to have.

Anyone know the correct torque required?

Also I have just been having a look at oil extractor pumps. It's always a pain to drain oil from a sump plug in the garage and these look a good solution to basically suck it from the dip stick tube. My worry is without gravity to assist can you be sure all the oil will drain?
Anyone had experience?

I don't think an oil extractor through dip stick tube would work with a dry sump system.
Isn't there two drain points on the 4200/GS when changing the oil. Must admit never done it myself.

Most dry sump systems I've played with have had a drain on the oil tank that's pretty easy to get to. Do we have a how to for an oil change?

Yes two drain points I have the how to guide this was my main concern with using an extractor as well, just curious to be honest!!

The how to guide is really good very detailed as well I will have a look under today but I don't think I will have the Clearence to be able to have two catch tanks underneath!! I have arranged to take it in next Wednesday to use a ramp at work will make it much easier.

We have a long journey to make next Thursday so will be nice to have all new service items on it for that, hopefully feel a difference.

Thanks cobra good advice I will be driving it for 10 miles to the garage so should be nice and warm to drain, reading the how to it says to fill with around 7 1/2 ltrs of oil then run up until the fan comes n and add the last litre or so bit by bit whilst checking the dipstick, so I will be careful to do this correctly as well.

Re-reading it as well it has to be a job for a proper lift as by the time you have the filter out you end up needing 3 catch tanks at once!!!

Quick questions, I would like to remove and clean up the red cylinder heads, anyone removed them before who could give me some pointers?
I'm assuming it's a case of undoing all the bolts then replacing with new gaskets and tightening to correct torque but don't want to cause unnessasery suffering!!

Thanks cobra!! But I would like to take them off just having a look and only looks like one of the bolts is going to be a pain so I think I will order the gaskets and do the clean up as well as a gasket renewal
