3200 Assetto Corsa Lamps

Have been checking my User and Workshop Manuals, I need to know what type of bulbs the AC has for:
Headlamps, Side lamps front, Indicators Front. I do not know if the AC was fitted with HID Headlamps, or just standard. The Workshop Manual does mention the H1 Headlamp Bulb. I need a spare lamp kit for everything apart from the LED Bommerangs for travelling in Europe.
Anybody got a list?

Cheers

I don't know where this leaves you Robert, but for the 4200 and GS, all the front lights are dealer replacements (or recommended as such anyway) because you have to remove the wheel and wheel lining to get at them. This is mentioned in the OM under "If an exterior light goes out"

IIRC, HID will have a self-leveling system along with lamp washers in the front bumpers. This is a legal requirement, and if you have them, then certainly a dealer replacement.

I also got a bit worried about this after watching Top Gear last night... I have a triangle and high vis vest but no handcuffs or truncheon yet!

Miles, From experience the 4200 headlight bulbs are easier to replace than my Mazda.

I'll take your word on that one Klive. :D I do wonder where this leaves us vis-a-vis travelling in France if the owners manual recommends a dealer replace the bulbs rather than DIY?

If it is only advisory, then I think going without is an option. I have looked in the manual and taking the wheel arch linings out is a possibility, but at the side of the road, or in a car park, no chance. I have taken the linings out on my XJR, but in a garage. Thanks Chaps. If anybody knows what the bulbs actually are, I will get a set in the future just in case they need changing, but do it at home.

I take a generic set of spare bulbs that I bought from somewhere like Halfrauds about 100 years ago. No idea if any of them ever fit any car I'm driving abroad or even if they work, but they're good enough to produce to plod should they stop me.

This all begs the question - how do you carry spare bulbs for the 3200 boomerangs, or any other car fitted with LED lights?

Rob you dont have to remove the whole inner liner , there's and inspection cover around 6" square that removes , on the gransport and 4200 they are held on by velcro , its really not difficult , on the other hand side light or indicator bulb replacements necessitate the under front tray to be removed in some instances on my 4200 there are 1" round holes to access the bolts that retai the lamp holder, whereas on the gransport the whole shield has to be removed

The 3200 takes H1 bulbs for the main beam, dip and lower driving lights. The Workshop manual on disc that's doing the rounds states H4 but this is incorrect. I replaced all three sets of mine with Philips Xtreme and they were all H1.

Perhaps things changed , the 3200 headlights were notorious for being a tad on the darkside to say the least , rumour has it that early owners wore miners lamps

Thanks chaps, that's a good idea to take any old bulb kit, I have one somewhere that my dad had for his Austin 7, I will take that. The tips on front lamp replacement are great, I have not had a look at ours yet, as it's still in the bodyshop, home tomorrow supposedly. My manual does say H1 for the headlights, did not mention the fogs, but that's not important for this trip, the boomerangs are obviously not in the equation, nor do I think the rear fogs, or reversing lights will be an issue.
One other question if anybody has the answer, Headlight Direction. Does the 3200 have a lamp direction lever? I have bought beam directional stickers for the headlights just in case, no idea if they will work on the 3200 front lamp lenses, or not, any ideas?

Hi Safrane,

It is stick on deflectors that I have bought, are they no good? If not what do you suggest??

They will be fine, however it is tricky to position as most of these sets do not list the Maserati.

Trial and Error, hold them to the lights whilst shining the lights on a wall and find where the light kicks up to iluminate the pavement on our roads...to be honest the projector systems produce a rather flat beam so don't get too hung up as long as you have made the effort...its not like you will be driving all night!

Guys I was told you don't need them. I do carry them just to be on the safe side but have no idea how they work.

MAF, I do the same, carry a bulb kit from a service station, no idea if they fit.

Been driving on the continent for 6 or 7 years regularly now without incident, apart from the toll barrier I smashed into, but we don't talk about that one!
