So by my maths that's a grands worth of labour plus parts can't see how Emblem get to £2400 but guess there is 20% vat in there and they charge more than £50 an hour, the chains are about £100 from memory you might as well have a cambelt whilst it's out.

Think they're about £75

Still, 5k miles to go yet - plenty of time to do the pricing :)

I heard that the 68k chains service is advisory, as with chains you get plenty of warning before they go i.e you'll hear them rattling around, so worth doing once they start making a noise. I also heard it was possible to without removing the engine...

Ditto re engine doesn't need to be removed.........I remember on Citroen DS's they ( alledgedly) used to cut a big opening in the bulkhead from the interior...change the chain...weld back up again!!!

That is correct, they need changing when they are noisy. Of course if you ask a main dealer to check them I would recon they would say of course sir, so I would take it to someone like Rob or Mike for an impartial opinion.

Only to true Andy , with the added fact that the workshop times quoted for most jobs are at least 30% longer than is actually required , so im sure that workshops indie and Main dealer are probably on bonus whilst the price matching offers are on , its the only way price dropping can be justified

That is very cheap....and makes a 3200/4200 more of a viable purchase for more I would say...

Just catching up with this thread and agree with Andy 100% Whilst these cars are never going to be cheap to maintain, deals like this certainly help.

Good prices certainly, but if they don't include fluids, that won't be the number written on the invoice.

Was in Maranello last week to have my codes read..... (£140:sad:)
and I happened to ask the price of a 68k service - my next big one.

Anyway, I managed to keep a straight face as I was quoted £4990 inc VAT and parts...

But if you are a member of their Club Monza (free, just ask) you get 20% off labour and 10% off parts.
So that'll just be the 4 grand please sir.

As was said, perfectly reasonable maintenance costs..............and only £120 to fill the tank.....truly economy motoring.

:p

Gordon

GDL quoted £2400 by the indie Emblem for his 68K service.......not sure in service/parts difference in his miles and yours.....

I think you will find that if you service in accordance with the book then the 68k service on a 3200 includes, ,Filters Oils ,Air,Fuel and Pollen,Engine , Gearbox and Diff Oil, Plugs, Coolant, All Belts, Chains, Carbon Filter and all this amounts to nearly £900, plus labour 20 hrs at £60 per hrs = £1200 plus vat = around £2,500.

My 56K service (the last service I had done where I didn't have any additional work done at the same time, so can therefore see what it cost) cost £710 inclusive of labour, fluids and VAT (at 17.5%).

Thanks for the insight Emtee where did you get yours done? Even on supercarhub cheapest is £900+vat and its going to be about £100 in fuel costs getting to said garage!

Guy's can I get some feed back here, My 3200 AC is due in for its service in June I've been informed that it is due a belt service as they were done three years ago. Now my question is in that time its done less than 4000 miles do I realy need a belt service?

Its up to you, its horrific if it goes but agree, they dont need doing, but you never know!

If it were me, I would risk it till it hits 10k/5years then do it as long as its not left outside in the cold. The cold will perish the belt over time, then I would do it regardless.

I had my belt done at Meridien and its they charged my 3.5 hrs at £75ph plus VAT for £300 its worth the peace of mind. They did however try the usual your waterpump is worn, you should replace it, £400 please sir. I declined and some years later I had to have the engine rebuilt and I asked the engineer what the water pump was like and he said perfect, no excessive play and it did not need replacing.

TBH I was waiting for Meridien to ask me about the waterpump so I was one step ahead of them, suppose they are just coving their @rses if the belt was to go prematurely.

A specialist basic service should be no more than £395 but I have seen them as low as £295, just make sure you get your air filters done and check its been done. You can check this by kneeling down on in front of the car on both sides and looking up under the bumper into the air boxes, you will spot a new filter a mile off. Well you can on a 4200 it might be different on the 3200, have a look.

Cheers Matt I feel the same having had many ducati's with belt driven desmo valves belts used to be a must, now they are kevlar reinforced they should last at least 5 years. It's meridien who look after the car and although they have been great I would say that they are not 100%.

When I did the deal I asked to have all the belts done over the phone as they were giving it a 18500 mile service this should include them I thought? I paid top dollarfor the car as many of you know and this febuary they told me it was due belts this year I was surprised. I asked the service manager Chris Ambrose to check and he said they had last been done two and a half years ago so would be due this summer.

I could not be bothered to start arguing with them as I had delt with the sale guy's when purchasing it and would need to take it up with them. gave them a call but the chap in question was away on leave so I sad I would give him a call in a couple of weeks.

Well with my hotel re-opening ect I went out of my head until this week.

Don't want to come across as a tight bugger and get on very well with them but feel a bit miffed over this. As I made the request over the phone when first talking to them I feel it may have been left off the list, they may have forgotten and as the belts were not due time wise not done them.

What should I do, It's a year since I picked it up should I take it up with the sales guy or just learn a lesson and doulble cross all the T's and I's when making a future purchase?

Always difficult a Phone agreement....depends on how honourable they are.

As its a costly item......chances are slim, but I would persevere......a deal is a deal after all.....it might involve a real cost, might be a courstesy item but still agreed to.

Not sure if belts just age related or age/mileage.....Matt?
